Thursday morning arrives with a schedule shake-up from Sony and a pocket-sized controller drop from Microsoft. God of War Laufey, the Norse saga’s next chapter, just lost three months, sliding from February to May 20, 2027. Meanwhile, the Xbox Nano Controller hits shelves for $49.99, Helldivers 2 spreads the Noxious update across the galaxy, and Ghost of Yotei quietly adds Jin Sakai to its Most Wanted mode. Eight games launch today across every platform, including a Switch 2 remake of Ocarina of Time. Let’s dig in.
The big one
God of War Laufey has been delayed three months to May 20, 2027. Sony Santa Monica confirmed the move Wednesday, citing the need for “additional polish time” across all platforms. The game was previously dated for February 18, 2027, a launch window that would have put it head-to-head with several other major first-party titles. The new date gives it breathing room in late spring and aligns with PlayStation’s traditional God of War launch corridor: the 2018 game arrived in April, Ragnarök in November. Pre-orders remain open at the same prices: $69.99 Standard, $89.99 Digital Deluxe, and $199.99 Collector’s Edition. The delay also means the previously announced pre-load window (early February) shifts accordingly; Sony says new pre-load dates will be shared in April 2027.
This is the first slip for Laufey since its State of Play gameplay reveal five months ago. The studio’s last major delay was God of War Ragnarök, which moved from late 2021 to November 2022 and used the extra time to refine combat pacing and accessibility options. Santa Monica has a track record of delays that pay off in quality, but the move also reshapes the early-2027 calendar: with Laufey gone, February’s biggest remaining exclusive is Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 (December 4, 2026 carryover momentum) and the recently dated Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World on December 3. For players, the wait stings, but a polished Laufey in May beats a rushed one in February.
The delay pushes God of War Laufey into a clearer launch window, but it also means Sony’s first-party slate for early 2027 is unusually thin. With Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 carrying December momentum and Dragon Quest Monsters in early December, the February-March gap is now wide open. This could be an opportunity for third-party games to capture attention, or it could signal that Sony is holding something back for a spring showcase. Players who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition should watch for whether the physical box ships on the original February date or moves with the game — Sony hasn’t clarified this yet.
Faye is Kratos’s late wife and the mother of Atreus; the game follows her through the Everywhen. Everywhen is the Norse concept of a timeless realm where past, present, and future overlap.

Xbox Nano Controller launches for $49.99. Microsoft’s smallest official gamepad yet is a Bluetooth-first design aimed at mobile, cloud, and on-the-go PC play. It drops the share button and grip texture of the standard controller for a flat, rectangular profile that fits in a jacket pocket. Battery life is rated at 30 hours on two AAs. Wednesday’s Xbox Nano story has the full spec breakdown.
Helldivers 2’s Noxious update is live. The free patch adds three new Terminid variants (including the bile-spewing Spore Charger), expanded Bug Cave mission types with destructible geometry, and a reworked planetary hazard system that makes atmosphere a tactical factor. Arrowhead says the update lays groundwork for the Illuminate faction arriving in 2027. Our Wednesday Helldivers 2 patch notes cover the details.
Ghost of Yotei adds Jin Sakai as a playable character in Most Wanted mode Wednesday. Sucker Punch surprise-dropped the Ghost of Tsushima protagonist as a cosmetic unlock for the co-op mode, complete with his Sakai Clan armor and a unique resolve mechanic. No new story content, just a very cool crossover for players still climbing the Most Wanted ranks. Wednesday’s Ghost of Yotei brief has more.
Valve is cracking down on Steam submissions as AI-generated clones flood the store. The company updated its Steamworks guidelines to require developers to disclose AI-generated content (art, code, writing) and added automated detection for asset-flip patterns. Several hundred low-effort listings were removed this week. Valve says the goal is “protecting discoverability for genuine games,” not banning AI tools outright. Our Wednesday Valve flash report covers the changes.
Football Manager 27’s file size is confirmed at 20 GB on Steam; preload date remains unannounced. SEGA and Sports Interactive also detailed cross-platform separation: PC and console are distinct products with no cross-save. Our FM27 file size guide and cross-play explainer have the details.
CRYMELIGHT misses its Steam launch date due to a review-process delay. The Alice-in-Wonderland roguelite was scheduled for today on Steam but remains in review; PS5 and Switch 2 versions launched as planned. No new Steam date yet (Automaton).

Deal of the day
Sorry We’re Closed is free on the Epic Games Store (Metacritic 83, normally $24.99) until today at 16:00 UTC (8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET). It’s a single-player survival game with arcade-style combat, puzzles, and multiple endings, well-reviewed and worth a library add even if you don’t play it immediately. Also notable: Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced is 50% off on Steam ($14.99 from $29.99) until 12:00 PM CT today.
One more thing
Yesterday’s Morning Save Point led with The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel and GTA 6 pre-load on November 10. Both stories held: Bethesda’s blog post confirming the Sentinel name and 2027 pre-orders is still the only official word on TES VI, and Rockstar’s support page still lists November 10 as the pre-load date for GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Two weeks until the biggest launch in entertainment history. The pre-load clock is ticking.
