God of War Laufey now launches on May 20, 2027, not February 16. Santa Monica Studio announced the 93-day delay on X today in a short statement that names no specific problem with the PS5 game.
The studio says it will spend the time “putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.” It also thanked fans for the response to the June reveal and promised more updates soon, without saying when or what they will cover.
What this means if you pre-ordered
The statement doesn’t mention pre-orders, the bonus items or the $149.99 Collector Box. When we checked this morning, Sony’s God of War Laufey page still listed February 16 and still offered the $69.99 pre-order. The UK Collector Box listing also still showed 16 February 2027. Those pages may simply not have caught up yet. Sony hasn’t said whether the box moves with the game, though a February box that arrives three months ahead of the game would be odd. We’ll update this story if it confirms a date.
The move takes Laufey out of a crowded February. Our analysis of 19 games set for February through June on our release calendar shows Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on February 12, Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold on February 23 and Final Fantasy VII Revelation on April 8. As of today, Laufey is the only game on that calendar with a date in May, although that could easily change as publishers fill in their 2027 plans.

Faye is Kratos’ late wife and the mother of Atreus, and the game follows her through the Everywhen. Sony revealed it at its June State of Play and set the February date at San Diego Comic-Con in July, so that date lasted a little over three months.
