Grand Theft Auto VI: Release Date, Platforms, Editions and Latest News

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This page collects what Rockstar has confirmed so far, and we update it whenever that changes. The newest stories are listed below.

The essentials

Detail Status
Release date November 19, 2026
Platforms PS5, Xbox Series X|S
PC Not announced
Switch 2 Not announced
Developer Rockstar Games (Take-Two Interactive)

How the date got here

GTA 6 was first planned for fall 2025, then moved to May 26, 2026. In November 2025 Rockstar pushed it again to November 19, 2026, saying the extra time would let it finish the game “with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.” Rockstar hasn’t announced any further delay.

PC and Switch 2

There’s no PC date. Rockstar has usually brought its games to PC after the console launch, so a later PC version would follow the pattern, but nothing is announced. On Switch 2, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard told Variety in October that any port is “a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar” (IGN, Kotaku).

What this means for you

The safe plan is a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S copy on day one. PC players have historically waited a year or more for Rockstar’s ports (GTA 5 reached PC in April 2015, about 19 months after the console launch), so if you only play on PC, budget for a long wait. Console prices are at record highs in the US right now (our report on Circana’s numbers), so if you need hardware, watch for GTA bundles rather than discounts.

Editions and physical copies

The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99, and every pre-order gets the Vintage Vice City Pack (Windows Central). The physical edition has no disc: the box holds a download code, and boxes go on sale November 12 so you can pre-load (Man of Many).
