Steam lists PAYDAY: Aces High as a cross-platform multiplayer game, and Fast Travel Games ships it on Meta Quest, SteamVR and Valve’s Steam Frame on the same day, November 5, 2026. In practice that means the Quest build and the Steam build share multiplayer, so you can queue with friends on a standalone headset and friends on a PC VR rig in the same heist.
In short:
- PAYDAY: Aces High launches on Meta Quest, SteamVR and Steam Frame for $24.99.
- Crossplay works between the Quest build and the Steam build. Steam lists the game as cross-platform multiplayer, and Quest is the only other platform it ships on.
- There is no PS VR2 version with a date and no Xbox version at all, so no Game Pass and no PS Plus on launch day.
- The Meta Store listing supports the Quest 3 and Quest 3S. The Steam build needs a PC and a VR headset.
- Owners of PAYDAY 1, 2 or 3 get 10% off on Steam until the end of 2026.
What crossplay does not do is merge your purchases. The developer has not published a crossplay FAQ, and neither store listing says that your money, DLC or progress carry between Meta and Steam, so treat them as two separate buys. There is also no console version to cross into on launch day: the publisher calls a PlayStation VR2 release possible later and has not announced an Xbox version, which also means no Game Pass and no PS Plus.
The three versions that launch on November 5
| Version | Where you buy it | What you need | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest build | Meta Store | Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S, standalone | $24.99 launch price. The Meta listing shows no price yet |
| SteamVR build | Steam, Windows only | Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, any OpenXR headset, or a Quest through Link | $24.99 |
| Steam Frame | The same Steam purchase | Valve’s Steam Frame, standalone, no PC | Included with the Steam version |
Fast Travel Games’ release date trailer puts it plainly: PAYDAY: Aces High launches November 5 on Meta Quest, SteamVR and Steam Frame for $24.99. The developer’s own news page says the same in one line: “Coming Nov 5, 2026 to Meta Quest 3 & SteamVR!” The Steam Frame is not a third purchase. Steam Frame is Valve’s standalone VR headset, which runs games on its own without a PC. When the developer added support for it in August, it said the game on that headset “is the same version on the Steam store as the SteamVR version”, so one Steam copy covers both.
The Meta Store listing is narrower than people expect. Its supported-platform line names the Meta Quest 3 and the Meta Quest 3S, so a Quest 2 on the older graphics hardware is not on that list. Our PC VR system requirements guide has the headset and hardware sheet for the Steam side.
Can Quest and Steam VR players play together?
Yes, according to the store metadata. The Steam page for PAYDAY: Aces High lists “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” among the game’s features, which is Steam’s label for a title that supports multiplayer with players on its other platforms. The only other platform the game ships on is Meta Quest, so that flag covers Quest to PC VR matchmaking.
The Meta Store listing describes the game modes as single user, player versus environment and co-op, with support for sitting, standing and roomscale play. Roomscale means the headset tracks the space you move around in, so a four-player crew needs actual floor. The game is built for up to four players, and a mixed crew of four is the intended setup. The crews most likely to need crossplay are the ones split across hardware, such as a friend on a Quest and the rest of the group on PC rigs.
Two caveats belong with that answer. Fast Travel Games has not published a crossplay FAQ, so nobody outside the studio has confirmed in writing how matchmaking handles a Quest player and a PC VR player in the same lobby. And crossplay was not in the build during the closed playtests. The developer’s August 25 recap of that weekend listed “0 crossplay friends (apologies)” among its numbers, so this is a launch-day feature rather than something that has been running for months.
Crossplay is also not cross-progression. Your purchase, your unlocks and your progress sit with the store you bought from, and the two stores do not share a purchase. A crew split between Quest and Steam needs one copy per side at $24.99 each, so sort out who is on which headset before launch night.
Is PAYDAY: Aces High on PlayStation VR2 or Xbox?
No version on either console has a date. Fast Travel Games’ October 26 announcement says the game “will come out on both Steam and Meta on November 5th 2026 with a possible PS VR2 launch later”, and there is still no PlayStation Store listing for it. The developer’s own Aces High page links only a Meta Quest build and a SteamVR build, and the release date trailer names the same three: Meta Quest, SteamVR and Steam Frame.
That is the short answer to the subscription question as well. There is no Xbox version to put into Game Pass and no PS5 or PS VR2 version to add to PS Plus. If you are weighing a subscription against a $24.99 purchase, the purchase is the only option on launch day.
Which version should you buy?
| If you | Buy | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Own a Quest 3 or Quest 3S and want no PC | Meta Store build | It runs standalone, and Meta lists Quest 3 and Quest 3S as supported |
| Have a PC and a PC VR headset | Steam build | $24.99 on Windows, with the full spec sheet in our PC VR guide |
| Want to play with a mixed crew | Either, one copy per store | Cross-platform multiplayer covers Quest and Steam, but each store sells its own copy |
| Own PAYDAY 1, 2 or 3 | Steam build, 10% off | The loyalty discount runs from launch until December 31 |
| Want to play on a flat monitor | Nothing to buy | The game carries the VR Only tag on Steam, and there is no flat-screen mode |
What it costs and what arrives after launch
The launch price is $24.99 on both stores, according to the release date trailer and the developer’s own October posts. Our PAYDAY: Aces High hub keeps every story on the game, including the release time, the PC VR requirements and the release date.
If you own PAYDAY 1, PAYDAY 2 or PAYDAY 3, Fast Travel Games is running a 10% loyalty discount on Steam from launch until December 31, 2026. That is the cheapest way in for series veterans, and it is a Steam-side offer: 10% off $24.99 is $22.49.
Two things are confirmed for after launch. A new heist arrives as free content for everyone who owns the base game before the holidays, and the game is also getting regular community challenges that hand out cosmetic rewards.
Demand so far is real but small next to a PAYDAY console launch. The developer passed 100,000 Steam wishlists on October 28, and the free Steam demo and the final playtest ran from October 19 to October 26 with 11,131 playtesters and an average session of 149 minutes. There is no demo to fall back on now, so the two stores are the only way in.
When does it unlock?
One hour is published, and it comes from the countdown on the Steam store page: 14:00 UTC on the launch date. That is 6 a.m. Pacific and 9 a.m. Eastern on the day, and our PAYDAY: Aces High release time guide has every zone in a table.
The Meta Store listing is not in step with it. The Quest page still shows “Coming soon”, and its release stamp sits four hours after Steam’s countdown, while Fast Travel Games has published no single hour covering both stores. If you are on Quest, be in the lobby early rather than trusting one listing.
We compared Steam’s store page, Fast Travel Games’ official Aces High page and the Meta Store listing on November 1, 2026, and pulled every platform, feature flag and published hour into the tables above. The finding that matters for launch night is that crossplay and launch hour are both quieter than the marketing suggests. Steam’s cross-platform flag is the only evidence that a Quest player and a PC VR player share a lobby. The developer’s own playtest recap counted “0 crossplay friends” in August, so nobody outside the studio has seen the combination work. The hour is thinner still: Steam’s countdown says 14:00 UTC, the Meta listing’s stamp sits four hours later, and the publisher has never published one time for both stores. Two numbers decide the purchase, the $24.99 launch price and the 10% loyalty discount that only PAYDAY 1, 2 and 3 owners can use on Steam before the end of the year. For a PC VR player, the system requirements page is the one that decides whether the PC copy is even an option, and the Release Calendar carries the date.
