AMD has released FSR 4.1 for Xbox Series X|S developers through the October 2026 Game Development Kit (GDK), as announced on the company’s GPUOpen developer portal. The ML-based upscaler, previously limited to Xbox Ally handheld beta drivers, now lets any Series X|S developer integrate the same FSR SDK API used on PC.
FSR 4.1 uses machine learning to reconstruct lower-resolution frames into sharper, higher-resolution output while boosting frame rates. Early beta testing on Xbox Ally X hardware showed meaningful image-quality improvements and more consistent performance in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Control Resonance, and Gears of War: E-Day. Games that previously looked soft in Quality modes on Ally X also saw substantial clarity gains.
Per-developer implementation will determine how much difference FSR 4.1 makes on Series X|S retail consoles. Ray-traced games such as Silent Hill 2 still need more optimization work. No launch titles using FSR 4.1 on Series X|S have been announced yet.
