Monster Hunter Wilds: Release Date, Platforms, Editions and Latest News

Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s hunting action game, and it is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Capcom released the base game on February 28, 2025, and it is the first game in the series with cross-play. Two things are still ahead of it: the Nintendo Switch 2 version on December 4, 2026, and the expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance in 2027.

Capcom’s own site sets up the hunt: a boy named Nata is found near the border of the Forbidden Lands, the Guild organizes an expedition after a mysterious monster called the White Wraith, and you play the Hunter sent to rescue Nata’s people, the Keepers. You hunt for resources and craft weapons and armor from them, in what Capcom calls “dynamic, ever-changing environments.”

What this means for you

The Monster Hunter series has sold more than 131 million units as of June 30, 2026, according to Capcom, so this is not a niche hunt. If you have not played yet, the PC and console copies are in stores now, and the Steam sale is the cheapest entry we can confirm tonight. If you play on a Switch, December 4, 2026 is the date to write down, and Ascendance is what to save room for.
