Infinity Ward published new Modern Warfare 4 patch notes on October 24, 2026. It is the first set of notes since launch, and the list runs to more than 20 fixes across Multiplayer, DMZ and the front end. Three problems are still listed as open issues.

The changes players will notice first are in Multiplayer. Spawn locations and respawn timing in Hijack have been improved. Infinity Ward also fixed an exploit that let players defuse the bomb in Search and Destroy “from an unintended distance or position.” The Deathstalker killstreak can no longer travel outside the map boundaries on Rooftops. The Portable Radar field upgrade now shows the minimap in Hardcore matches, and Favorite Operators equip correctly on Collateral. One line is a warning rather than a fix: Weapon and Player Prestiging are unavailable while you are searching for a match, and the interface now says so.

DMZ received the bigger share. Party Leaders can no longer pull teammates out of DMZ without their consent, which used to mark their Active Duty Operators as MIA. The Exfil helicopter no longer disappears while you are still inside it. Objective markers in the Obtain Code steps of the Dark Zone story mission now point at the right target. The FOB, the DMZ’s Forward Operating Base, no longer has an out-of-bounds issue. Infinity Ward adjusted more spots on Hajin where players could get stuck in rocks, and slowed down AI reinforcements in the Shopping Mission. It also fixed the Philanthropist Order on Page 19 not tracking Weekly Mission Challenges, and says it closed various exploits.

The rest is housekeeping. Stability and crash fixes landed across all modes. Menus no longer close by themselves. A PC fix stopped the Split keybind from ignoring a custom Ping keybind, which had left players thinking they could not split inventory stacks. Non-Melee weapons no longer appear in the Melee slot, and attachments now reset when you prestige a weapon in Gunsmith. An incorrect attachment no longer appears on the M4’s muzzle, and player models no longer stand in static or broken animations.

The three known issues are the ones to watch. The regional map animation during matchmaking is temporarily disabled while Infinity Ward investigates reports of hitching. Players are still being kicked at random while spectating in Multiplayer. PC players can hit a network error when extracting from DMZ with a looted Dog Tag. Infinity Ward tracks live issues on its official Trello board. Our Modern Warfare 4 hub collects everything we have published on the game, starting with the launch guide if you have not read it yet.

The shape of this patch matters more than any single line. Almost nothing here touches weapon damage or balance. It is stability, spawn logic and the small exploits that make a launch feel unfinished. For example, the Hijack spawn change and the Search and Destroy defuse fix are both about fairness rather than power, while the three items still on the known-issues list are the ones worth re-checking next week.
