The Elden Ring servers go down for three hours on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, FromSoftware has confirmed, with an update patch bundled in.

Per the official @ELDENRING post, maintenance begins at 00:00 PDT (also 09:00 CEST and 16:00 JST) and runs for roughly three hours. Servers are scheduled to come back up at 03:00 PDT / 12:00 CEST / 19:00 JST. Online play is unavailable in that window; offline play still works.

The same FromSoftware announcement, in Japanese on the developer account, confirms an update file ships with the maintenance. Patch notes haven’t been published yet. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is not included in this pass and gets a separate maintenance window, the studio says. PDT is Pacific Daylight Time (UTC−7), used in the western US and Canada through early November; CEST is Central European Summer Time (UTC+2); JST is Japan Standard Time (UTC+9).

Translated to other zones, the window looks like this on Tuesday, October 20:

  • US Eastern (EDT): 03:00 – 06:00
  • US Central (CDT): 02:00 – 05:00
  • UK (BST, until Sunday October 25): 08:00 – 11:00
  • Central Europe (CEST): 09:00 – 12:00
  • Japan (JST): 16:00 – 19:00
  • Australia East (AEDT): 18:00 – 21:00

The window lines up with what FromSoftware typically uses for balance-style updates. Elden Ring Nightreign runs on its own patch cadence and is unaffected.

Carving Tarnished Edition out of this pass is a small but useful tell. The configuration that needs separate maintenance is the one with the most variable client behavior right now, and a generic “bug fixes” patch aimed at the existing PC/PS/Xbox clients would land cleanly there without needing a retest. The three-hour length matches recent Nightreign and base-game windows, leaving room for a server-side hotfix and a client restart without spilling into a known-issue reset. Co-op and PvP players in EU time zones will lose the prime evening slot; APAC players get the downtime during their workday.

For reference on the same maintenance-post format, our news desk archive has the FF14 24-hour maintenance post as a recent comparable.
