This is the release week of the year. Six confirmed launch days, thirteen notable games, two tier-one IPs, and the first new Call of Duty on a Nintendo console since the Wii U era, all crammed between today and Sunday. Most of October’s major publishers moved their games earlier to clear a runway for GTA 6 on November 19. The calendar still could not dodge a six-game cluster on October 22 and Modern Warfare 4’s full launch on October 23. Here is everything shipping between Monday and Sunday, with platforms, prices, and the one-line “should you care” note for each.

BeamNG.drive (PS5, PC, Early Access). Soft-body physics driving sim out of Steam Early Access since 2015 hits PS5 today alongside the v0.40 update. FSR 3 runs on the base PS5; PSSR runs on PS5 Pro. Local split-screen co-op for two players is new, and the same PC build locks in step with the console version. Mods are not supported on PlayStation at launch. The Bremen studio (about 90 people) has been shipping this same Early Access for ten years; the new platform just unlocks the same game for console players. Pricing and PS Plus availability aren’t called out in today’s release; the PlayStation Store page carries the current price.

Tuesday, October 20

Helldivers 2: Scope of Authority Warbond (PS5, PC, Premium Warbond, 1,000 Super Credits to unlock). Arrowhead’s sniper-themed Premium Warbond drops tomorrow with five new weapons and two new armors. The weapons are the R-40 Sightliner bolt-action sniper, P-44 Mist sidearm, AMW-20 Apex anti-materiel rifle, LAS-44 Nova energy rifle, and G-11 Caltrops proximity grenade. The armors are the SS-33 Mimetic Marshal light ghillie suit and SS-15 Focal Point medium adaptive camo. Both ship with the Stationary Shroud passive, the first armor passive in the game to combine weapon-sway and enemy-detection reductions for crouched or prone Helldivers. Unlock costs Super Credits; individual items inside are then bought with Medals. Our Scope of Authority guide breaks down every weapon and the new passive.

Star Trek: Outposts Unknown (PC, Early Access). Narrative-driven Star Trek outpost builder from Magic Fuel Games and Playstack. Players run a crew across strange new worlds and face a mysterious cosmic force. Free during Early Access on Steam.

Wednesday, October 21

The Killing Stone (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, $19.99). The 2D point-and-click mystery adventure from Wheelhouse Studios ports to consoles today, eight months after its February 18 Steam launch. The console release adds nothing new to the original. This is a clean port for players who never owned the PC version.

DEMONS’ NIGHT FEVER (PS5, Switch, PC, $39.99). Arc System Works publishes the brutal Raise-to-the-RTA simulation RPG where the more you die, the more peons you unlock to exploit. The unusual Peon Exploitation System is the hook. Drecom (Tokyo) developed the original Japanese PC version.

Stupid Never Dies (PS5, PC, $49.99). Blazing-fast growth action RPG from GPTRACK50. Weak zombie Davy becomes strong by devouring enemies and stealing their powers, all to revive a frozen Julia. Dungeon-crawler framework with the unusual trait-growth loop.

Bruisers 2D Boxing (PC, Early Access). Career-boxing sim from FunOldGames and Halfbrick. Train, eat, fight, deal with anyone who wants a piece of you on the way up. Fatal consequences are possible. Local co-op and an online league round out the launch.

Thursday, October 22

The biggest single day of the year so far.

Final Fantasy Resonance (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, $49.99 Standard / $59.99 Digital Deluxe). Square Enix’s first HD-2D Final Fantasy hits every major platform tomorrow. The 2D-pixel-plus-3D-effects style was first introduced in Octopath Traveler. Here it wraps a brand-new storyline for Rain and Lasswell in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. Visions of beloved Final Fantasy characters fight at your side throughout. The free Steam demo (appid 4474710) carries your save into the full game for the first chapter. Famitsu gave it a 36/40, the joint-highest Square Enix score this year. Our Final Fantasy Resonance Editions Compared covers Standard vs Digital Deluxe.

Cult of the Lamb (Switch 2, $24.99, free upgrade for owners of the original Switch). Massive Monster’s cult-management roguelike ports to Switch 2 with the Woolhaven expansion and four cosmetic packs bundled in. Original Switch owners get the Switch 2 upgrade for free. There is no separate Upgrade Pack fee (rare, but no other recent Switch 2 port has done the same). Our Cult of the Lamb Switch 2 post covers the upgrade policy.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves (Switch 2). SNK’s 2025 fighting game ports to Switch 2 tomorrow with Rock Howard and Preecha’s story modes and the Season Pass 1 roster bundled in. The Switch 2 release is the first new SKU for the game since its April 2025 console debut.

Hitman: Absolution – Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2, $29.99 launch price through November 4, $39.99 after; Switch owners get a free Upgrade Pack until Nov 5). Feral Interactive’s port of IO Interactive’s 2012 cinematic Hitman title raises output resolution in handheld and TV modes. It adds a 60fps Performance preset, Joy-Con mouse support, and Contracts mode (custom assassination challenges shared online). Our Hitman: Absolution Switch 2 post has the per-region unlock times.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort (Switch 2, $49.99). Nintendo-developed 12-sport motion-control sequel to the original Switch Sports ships tomorrow. The twelve sports are Bowling, Archery, Boxing, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Prop Plane, Skateboarding, Power Cruising, and Tennis. The Leg Strap accessory comes in the box for the new lower-body-controlled sports. Online play requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription; offline couch co-op supports up to four Joy-Con 2 controllers. Our Switch Sports Resort midnight unlock post has the per-region times.

PEAK (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, $19.99 console, $7.99 Steam). Aggro Crab + Landfall’s co-op climbing game ports to all three current consoles tomorrow. Full crossplay spans PS5 + Xbox + Switch 2 + PC, plus a physical launch. The console port includes every collision biome, item, and update PC has received since the June 2025 Steam launch. Our PEAK console launch post has the full lineup.

One Piece: Grand Gourmet (Switch, Switch 2, PC, mobile, $19.99). Kairosoft’s signature management sim set in the One Piece world. Build the Straw Hats’ floating restaurant alongside familiar faces from the crew.

Friday, October 23

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch 2, $69.99 Standard / $99.99 Vault Edition). Activision’s MW4 full launch unlocks tomorrow night across every platform. DMZ Early Access is already live for digital pre-orders since October 20. The 16-mission campaign has been in Early Access since October 16. The campaign is sitting at roughly 90% positive on Steam with the cast (Barry Sloane, Samuel Roukin, María Elisa Camargo) responding to fan comments by name. It is the best-received Call of Duty campaign in over a decade. Multiplayer arrives with the full unlock. Our MW4 release-time guide has the per-zone unlock box for tomorrow.

Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest (PC, $29.99). Bamtang Games’ action-adventure RPG based on the Erin Hunter Warrior Cats book series. Create your own cat, journey through the Lake Territories, hunt, explore, and battle rival Clans. Trailmark Games publishes.

Saturday, October 24

Nothing major. A quiet Saturday to clear the MW4 install queue.

Sunday, October 25

Nothing major. Rest, recover, finish YOLO mode.

Our pick of the week

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is the obvious headline pick, and the data backs it up. The 16-mission single-player campaign has earned its 90% positive Steam rating over five days of Early Access. The Call of Duty Steam hub peaked at 108,471 concurrent players on October 18, up 253% week-over-week per our player-counts data. IGN’s Simon Cardy called it “the best Modern Warfare since its 2019 reboot” in his review-in-progress. The campaign’s seven-hour runtime is the shortest in the franchise’s modern era. The Korean-theater storyline lands with a different tone than anything Activision has shipped since the original Modern Warfare trilogy. The full multiplayer launch tomorrow night is the real test, but the early reception lines up.

The second pick, and the more interesting one, is Final Fantasy Resonance. Square Enix’s first HD-2D Final Fantasy is the boldest genre experiment the franchise has shipped in years. It keeps the classic airship-and-crystal DNA and the Visions mechanic. That mechanic lets you call in Final Fantasy characters from across the series as mid-battle summons. But it asks new players to engage with the original mobile entry’s sprawling storyline on a console controller. Famitsu’s 36/40 is the joint-highest Square Enix score this year. The demo has been live since September 3, so the gamble has paid off before launch. $49.99 is also the cheapest HD-2D entry Square Enix has ever shipped, $10 below the previous low for an Octopath Traveler or Triangle Strategy.

That is the framing for the next six weeks. GTA 6 on November 19 is the obvious seasonal climax, but the calendar between now and then is its own challenge. Tomorrow alone lands six games worth their own guides. Friday is the first new Call of Duty on a Nintendo console since 2012. For example, a Switch 2 owner on a $200 budget faces a real choice between Final Fantasy Resonance ($49.99), Cult of the Lamb ($24.99), and the Switch Sports Resort ($49.99), all dropping on the same Thursday. The publisher pattern matters too: Square Enix (HD-2D launches punctual on Steam), Feral (consistent midnight-local Switch 2 eShop), and Massive Monster (no Switch 2 Upgrade Pack fee) all behave differently from the more common pattern of $10 Upgrade Pack fees for last-gen ports. Plan your wallet accordingly.
