Sonic Pico Park launches on November 12, 2026 for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Sega confirmed during its Sonic the Hedgehog 35th anniversary event, Club Chaos, this week.
The game is a Sonic-flavored entry in TECOPARK’s 2-8 player co-op action-puzzle series, Pico Park. Co-op is drop-in multiplayer for 2 to 8 players on the same screen or online, working through 48 levels built around the rule “get all the keys, get to the goal, and clear.” Each stage introduces “gimmicks” themed around the Sonic universe, Sega said.
A new trailer shown at Club Chaos reveals Silver and Blaze joining the playable roster. They join Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, Cream (with Cheese), Big, and the “Sonic Pico Cat.” The trailer focuses on the 2D puzzle-platforming flow that defined the earlier Pico Park games. Sonic staples like springs, dash pads, and item boxes appear in level design.
Crossplay is a notable new addition for the series. The Steam listing confirms the Sonic entry supports online play across platforms. Up to 7 local players on a single PC can join the same online session, and every playable character uses Sonic’s iconic Spin Dash, with rings, loops, and springs as standard level elements.
TECOPARK’s first Pico Park is already on the Nintendo eShop for $4.99. Pico Park 2 is $8.99. The Sonic-flavored entry follows the same pick-up-and-play approach. As with the earlier entries, the game’s design assumes players are talking to each other. They have to figure out who crosses a gap first, who carries a key, and who stays behind to hold a switch.
Case example: the trailer’s first level shown after the character reveal places four players in a screen-wide stage with a row of springs on the left and a goal plate on the right. To clear it, one player Spin Dashes across a gap the others cannot reach, drops a key, and returns. The Nintendo Life trailer description calls this style of design “levels with special gimmicks designed specifically for multiplayer,” and the Sonic crossover uses Spin Dash and spring physics as the load-bearing gimmick across most of the 48 levels.
Our read: Sonic Pico Park is a small, family-friendly Switch title rather than a flagship release. The November 12 launch is the first Switch 2 release in the Pico Park series, and the crossplay support is a meaningful addition over the earlier two entries, which were local-only or online-only within the same platform.
Sonic Pico Park joins the Pixel Herald release calendar for November 12, alongside Sega’s other Switch-friendly Sonic release, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The first two Pico Park games are available now on the Nintendo eShop, and the SEGA press page is the official home for future Sonic franchise updates.
