Cult of the Lamb comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, 2026, developer Massive Monster confirmed today. Players who already own the game on Switch can upgrade to the Switch 2 version for free, and new buyers pay the same $24.99 the current Switch version costs.
Massive Monster announced the release on the official Cult of the Lamb X account this afternoon. The post didn’t mention any Switch 2-specific upgrades like frame rate or resolution — just the date and the upgrade policy. The Switch 1 version stays available alongside the new release at the same price.
Cult of the Lamb is a roguelike where players crusade through dungeons, build a cult of woodland followers, and grow their base between runs. It originally launched on August 11, 2022 and has been on Switch since day one. The game picked up a major expansion, Woolhaven, a paid add-on that adds new biomes and a new campaign act, in January 2026. The One Who Waits Edition bundles the base game with Woolhaven plus four cosmetic packs for $59.99. The Switch 2 version is the first new platform release since the iOS port in 2023.
The free upgrade applies to digital Switch 1 owners, per Siliconera, which cited the studio’s announcement. Massive Monster’s social post focused on the date and price. It didn’t list a separate Upgrade Pack price, the way some Switch 2 ports have, and didn’t address any technical differences Switch 2 players will see versus the original Switch version.
Alright, alright. We're DOING it.

Cultists that already own COTL on Switch 1 can upgrade for FREE, while those that don't will have to pay the price. That price being the same amount as the Switch 1 version.

The no-Upgrade-Pack-fee angle is what makes this stand out. Nintendo’s own Switch 2 upgrade policy lets publishers charge for the Switch 2 enhancement on top of the original price. Games like House Flipper 2 and LEGO Harry Potter Collection launched on Switch 2 in the last two weeks, and It Takes Two is a bigger arrival still to come. The Steam page also has Cult of the Lamb at 50% off through October 19, knocking the base game to $12.49, ahead of the Switch 2 version on the Release Calendar.
