PEAK is a co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab (an American studio in Seattle) and Landfall (a Swedish studio in Stockholm). It’s coming to PlayStation 5 on October 22. The studios confirmed the date and a new crossplay feature on the PlayStation Blog on Wednesday, more than a year after the game’s Steam debut on June 16, 2025. A Push Square-sourced ESRB rating first hinted at the port three days ago. The PS5 date now appears on our release calendar.
The PS5 launch turns on crossplay for the first time. Players can climb with up to three friends “no matter what platform they use.” The PS5 build ships with every biome, item, and update PC has received since launch, including the final-ascent update that pushed the player count to new highs. The PS5 edition also keeps the custom-run feature where scouts can kick each other off cliffs on purpose.
Aggro Crab is the Seattle studio behind Another Crab’s Treasure and Going Under. Landfall is the Stockholm team behind Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and Stick Fight. They met at a game dev conference in 2022 and built the first PEAK prototype during a one-month game jam in Seoul in February 2025, fueled by Korean BBQ and coffee.
Gematsu is also reporting same-day launches for Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 22, though those platforms have not yet been confirmed by Aggro Crab, Landfall, or platform holders. PEAK is still on Steam at the original price of $7.99.
PEAK and the 2026 indie port pipeline
| Game | Studio | PS5 date | Crossplay |
|---|---|---|---|
| PEAK | Aggro Crab / Landfall | Oct 22, 2026 | Yes (launch) |
| Another Crab’s Treasure | Aggro Crab | Already on PS5 | No |
| Escape Academy 2 | Inkulinati / iam8bit | Already on PS5 | No |
| BlazBlue: Central Fiction | Arc System Works | Already on PS5 | Rollback netcode only |
| Re-Volt | Weevy Games | Nov 5, 2026 | TBA |
PEAK is the biggest of this group by Steam player count (peaks above 100,000 in summer 2025 per Valve’s stats), and the only one shipping day-one crossplay across the consoles it’s launching on.
Our read: PEAK is the rare indie that earned a console port by patiently building content first, then porting once the studio had more to port than a launch build. With crossplay on, the friend group no longer dictates which platform anyone picks: a PS5 squad can climb with PC friends and vice versa. The same should hold if Xbox Series and Switch 2 launch on schedule. The Seattle-Stockholm origin story also explains why crossplay felt inevitable here, and it’s the angle the PlayStation Blog and Gematsu piece don’t spell out for Western readers used to picking sides.
