The Saros: Zenith update is available now for free to all Saros owners on PlayStation 5, developer Housemarque announced today. It’s the biggest post-launch addition to the studio’s Returnal follow-up, which launched April 30, 2026 to an 87 on Metacritic and a 91% OpenCritic recommendation rate.
Zenith adds a New Game mode called Eclipse Layers, where players pick a loadout of Carcosan Modifiers and tackle a more intense version of Carcosa with altered rules. Twenty-five Trials unlock as you progress, and a Crowed Eclipse is earned for stacking modifiers, with the Crown visually scaling up as the difficulty increases. Twelve new collectible Visions (murals and messages from an ancient king) are hidden across the planet.
Overlord Rush is the headline new mode: a boss gauntlet divided into Incursion and Ascension Sets (three Overlords each, completable in around 10 minutes) and a final Totality Set that lines up all eight Carcosan Overlords back-to-back. Integrated leaderboards let players compete globally and filter by main weapon.
Housemarque also added 10 Protection Modifiers and 10 Trial Modifiers to the existing Carcosan Modifiers system, plus accessibility options: Slow Game Speed (adjustable per-fight), Auto-fire, and Motion Sensor Aiming alongside the existing button remapping. The studio said Zenith is designed both for veteran Soltari Enforcers and for newcomers who found the bullet-ballet pacing intimidating at launch. A launch trailer is on the official PlayStation YouTube channel.
