RetroStyle Games officially announced Flame and Blame on October 16, 2026, a first-person physics-comedy co-op firefighter sim headed to PC via Steam in 2027. The reveal is the studio’s first internal title in the co-op genre, and the Steam page lists 20 interface languages, with Japanese text support explicitly planned alongside English. Physics-comedy here means a game whose humor comes from a ragdoll-style physics engine, with hoses that whip, axes that smash through drywall, and bodies that ragdoll into the nearest wall rather than scripted jokes.

Up to four players suit up as “the least qualified firefighters ever to hold a hose” and rush to put out a town that is perpetually on fire. The official Steam page describes wild hoses that throw you across the room, doors and walls that get smashed through with a fire axe, and houses that get flooded just to save one lucky plant. Live wires, gas leaks, and “fire tornadoes” round out the hazards. Civilians, pets, houseplants, and “one extremely confused panda” all need rescuing, and the trailer shows a trampoline being used for the truly desperate escape. The Automaton JP report on the announcement adds that the game’s final-resort option is “blowing up the dam” to flood the entire city to put out the fires.

RetroStyle Games is a 200-person Ukrainian studio best known as the art-outsourcing house behind Blue Prince, Gothic 1 Remake, and Titan Quest II, but it also develops and self-publishes its own games. Its in-house titles include Ocean Keeper: Dome Survival and Last Pirates: Die Together, and the studio’s website says its own games have crossed 80 million downloads. Flame and Blame crossed 10,000 Steam wishlists before the announcement trailer went public, and the team is currently recruiting playtesters through the Steam page’s “Request Access” button. The game’s co-op has in-game voice chat, and the studio’s FAQ says a console version is being considered after the PC release, with pricing in line with comparable co-op simulation games.

The announcement slots into a packed PC co-op release calendar that already includes the recently launched Jackbox Party Pack 12 (October 15), the PEAK cross-platform port on October 22, and the upcoming DREADMOOR early-access launch on November 9. Solo play is supported, but the game is built around the 4-player online co-op hook; the same physics-comedy formula that made Ember Trail’s Quarantine Zone: Miami Zero DLC a sleeper hit on Xbox and PC earlier this month.

Can you play it in English?

Yes. The Steam store page (appid 4908460) confirms English interface support, alongside French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Ukrainian, Arabic, Hungarian, Indonesian, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Spanish-Latin America. Voice acting has not been announced for any language. The Automaton JP announcement explicitly notes that the game is being developed with Japanese text support planned, which is why Pixel Herald’s Japan desk is leading the English coverage. A Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox version has not been announced, but the developer’s FAQ states console releases are being considered after the PC launch. Playtester applications are open now via the Steam “Request Access” button for players who want to try it before the 2027 release.

What is confirmed so far, per the Steam page and the developer’s official announcement:

  • Platform: PC (Windows) via Steam, appid 4908460; no other stores or storefronts listed.
  • Release window: 2027; no specific quarter or date announced yet.
  • Languages: 20 interface languages including English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and 15 others. No voice acting confirmed.
  • Modes: Up to 4-player online co-op with in-game voice chat; solo play supported.
  • Wishlists: 10,000+ before the announcement trailer went public.
  • Playtesting: Open via the Steam “Request Access” button.
  • Consoles: Not announced; the developer’s FAQ says console versions are being considered after PC.

With a 2027 window, a late-2027 release would slot Flame and Blame into the same holiday window as the 2026 PC co-op release calendar already filled by PEAK, Quarantine Zone, Jackbox 12, and the November 9 DREADMOOR early-access launch.
