Frosthaven, the digital adaptation of Isaac Childres’ Frosthaven board game and a spiritual successor to Gloomhaven, leaves early access on PC today with its 1.0 launch at $39.99 on Steam and Epic Games Store.

Arc Games is the publisher, with development handled by Sofia-based Snapshot Games. Snapshot was founded in 2013 by Julian Gollop, the designer of the original X-COM games: 1994’s X-COM: UFO Defense and its sequel Terror From The Deep. The 1.0 build ships the full story campaign from the tabletop game, including its climactic final chapter and all 17 playable heroes. New for digital players is “Road to Frosthaven,” a streamlined introduction designed to ease newcomers into the franchise’s notoriously dense combat. An in-game Codex and unlockable per-hero videos round out the onboarding. Online co-op gets improved networking, and a new House Rules system lets groups customize difficulty and mechanics.

To mark the launch, Arc Games is running a 30% off promotion on Steam starting today, with the same discount coming to Epic Games Store on October 19. Steam players can stack an extra 10% off with two new bundles, alongside the standalone base game:

Edition Contents Steam launch price
Frosthaven (Standard) Base game only $27.99 (-30% from $39.99)
Frosthaven + Sunderfolk Bundle Frosthaven + Sunderfolk tactical co-op RPG bundled 10% extra off
Frosthaven Complete Edition Base game + Original Soundtrack + Digital Art Book bundled 10% extra off

At the same Galaxies Showcase, Arc Games surprise-dropped an open beta for NAUTUS, the next game from Montpellier-based Magic Design Studios. Magic Design is the team behind the darkly charming roguelike Have a Nice Death (2023). The four-player co-op adventure casts players as the crew of an upgradable submarine at a remote research station. The scientists there have developed a fear of the ocean, so the team splits its time between fighting mutant creatures below the waves and developing a tropical surface base. The beta is live on Steam right now.

Both games ship as PC-only today. Frosthaven joins a packed launch day. It lands alongside DayZ Badlands on PC/PS5/Xbox (Bohemia Interactive’s largest-ever expansion, per our earlier coverage), House Flipper 2 on Switch 2 (Frozen District’s Switch 2 launch), and Tales of Eternia Remastered in Japan (Bandai Namco’s JRPG remake, launching tomorrow worldwide).

Our read: For fans of Gloomhaven’s deep tactical combat, today’s 1.0 release is the cleanest single entry point yet, and the Sunderfolk bundle is the easiest way to bring a friend into a notoriously heavy tabletop tradition. With the bundled 30% Steam discount, Frosthaven is the cheapest it’s been during its years-long early access.
