Bethesda Game Studios has officially revealed the title of its next mainline Elder Scrolls game: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The announcement came at the end of a video celebrating the studio’s 40th anniversary, posted to the Bethesda Bluesky account and Xbox Wire on November 3.
The name Sentinel confirms the long-speculated setting: Sentinel is a major port city in Hammerfell, the desert province home to the Redguards. The brief 2018 E3 teaser showed a coastline that fans had matched to Hammerfell’s geography.
Bethesda stated that “development continues” but added “it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more.” No release date, platforms, or gameplay footage were shown — the reveal was a title card and logo only.
The Elder Scrolls VI was first teased at E3 2018, over eight years ago. Since then, the studio has released Fallout 76 and Starfield, and was acquired by Microsoft in 2021. The last mainline entry, Skyrim, launched in 2011.
