Halo: The Great Journey, the Museum of Pop Culture’s 25th-anniversary Halo exhibition, is now open in Seattle. Halo’s official X account confirmed the run on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and MOPOP’s own exhibition page lists the closing date as May 16, 2027. Tickets are on sale through the MOPOP site.

Halo: Combat Evolved first launched on November 15, 2001 for the original Xbox, so the show lands roughly a year before the franchise’s exact 25th anniversary milestone next November. MOPOP’s description frames the show around “25 years of the legendary gaming franchise.” More than 20 rare artifacts are on display. Master Chief armor is one of the headliners. Atriox, the Brute warlord who leads the Banished in Halo Wars 2 and Halo Infinite, is another. Covenant and UNSC weaponry round out the case.

What’s inside

  • More than 20 rare artifacts spanning the franchise’s history, including Master Chief armor and Atriox
  • Covenant and UNSC weapons on display. Covenant is the alien theocracy; UNSC is the human military
  • Original artwork and “familiar faces” from across the games
  • Fan contributions highlighting “cosplay, art, collectibles, and more”

The wall text frames Halo as “more than a dozen games and generations of Xbox consoles” with “over 80 million copies sold.” That tally matches lifetime sales across the Bungie era and the Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) era. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the Master Chief Collection, and Halo: Campaign Evolved account for the recent re-releases. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a 2026 remake of the original campaign. It also brought the series to PlayStation 5 for the first time. Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the franchise’s biggest single-game bundle, hit $9.99 on Steam in our October 17 deal radar.

How to visit

MOPOP (the Museum of Pop Culture) sits at Seattle Center. Tickets are sold through mopop.org for a specific day or as a two-day pass. The Halo show runs within the museum’s broader “follow the Yellow Brick Road” programming. That Oz programming is a separate limited-time exhibit. The Halo X post is the direct source on dates. MOPOP’s own Halo: The Great Journey event page hosts the full description, the ticket widget, and member pricing.

Three concrete takeaways for readers. First, the run is unusually long: October 14, 2026 through May 16, 2027, a 215-day window that crosses over the actual 25th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved on November 15, 2026. Second, this is a public Halo Studios moment during a transition: the studio rebranded from 343 Industries in October 2024 and shipped Halo: Campaign Evolved earlier this year, while the September 2026 announcement handed the next mainline Halo project to Activision and left Halo Studios with a support-only team. A physical anniversary exhibit running through next spring is part of how Microsoft Gaming keeps Halo visibly in front of players during that handoff. Third, the artifacts are mostly console-and-toy territory, not gameplay-news territory. Players looking for new Halo should look elsewhere. Anyone planning a Seattle trip can fold this into a Seattle Center visit alongside MOPOP’s other current programming.

For Microsoft Gaming, the show fits an anniversary year that also brought Halo: Campaign Evolved to PlayStation 5 for the first time and the $9.99 Steam deal on Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The broader Xbox anniversary year is also live: Xbox’s new Gaming Task View for Windows 11 shipped this week on Microsoft’s Windows 11 build, and Asha Sharma’s “Xbox will not survive without new IP” warning from earlier this year frames why Microsoft is keeping Halo visible wherever it can.
