Quick answer: PAYDAY: Aces High needs a Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 5 1600, 12 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with 6 GB of VRAM, Windows 10 and 10 GB of free space on PC.
- Check the GPU first. Steam’s minimum is a GTX 1060 or RX 580, and both must have 6 GB of VRAM.
- Make sure you own a supported headset: Steam Frame, an OpenXR headset, Valve Index, a Quest connected through Link, or an Oculus Rift S.
- Clear 10 GB of storage and run Windows 10 or newer.
- Try the free Steam demo before November 5 if you want to test your setup. It stays up through October 26.
That is everything Fast Travel Games has published about PC requirements so far. The developer’s Steam page lists a minimum tier only, and the recommended tier says nothing beyond “64-bit processor and operating system.” We will update this page if a recommended spec appears.
Minimum PC specs
The Steam listing is the only official spec sheet so far. It covers the PC VR build, which Fast Travel Games releases on November 5 alongside the Meta Quest version.
| Component | Minimum (Steam) |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600 |
| Memory | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GTX 1060 / RX 580, 6 GB VRAM |
| Storage | 10 GB available space |
| VR support | Steam Frame, OpenXR, Index, Quest via Link, Oculus Rift S |
| Recommended | Not published |
Steam marks the game Windows only, with no Mac or Linux build, and lists English as the only language. It carries the “VR Only” tag, so there is no flat-screen mode.
Which VR headsets work
Steam names five ways to play on PC: Valve’s Steam Frame, any headset that supports OpenXR, the Valve Index, a Meta Quest connected through Link, and the Oculus Rift S. Link lets a Quest headset run PC VR games.
If you own a Quest, you have a second option. Fast Travel Games’ reveal announcement described the game as coming to Meta Quest and SteamVR, and Steam’s listing adds Steam Frame. The Quest build is a separate release on the Meta Store, so only the PC version has to meet the table above.
Heads up for Index owners: Valve has stopped making the headset, which we covered when Valve ended Index production. The game still lists it as supported.
Is PAYDAY: Aces High cross-platform?
Steam tags the game as Cross-Platform Multiplayer and Online Co-op, alongside Single-player, Co-op and Multi-player. Steam’s description calls it a co-op heist game for up to four players. Fast Travel Games hasn’t published a list of which platforms can join each other’s lobbies, so treat the Steam tag as the only confirmation. We’ll write a full crossplay explainer if the studio spells it out.
Test your setup with the demo
The PAYDAY: Aces High demo is live on Steam as a separate listing and runs through October 26 as part of the final playtest. Players who take part get the exclusive Kitty Mask in the full game, as covered in our release date story. A demo run tells you more about your headset and GPU than a spec table can, particularly for a game that has to hold a steady frame rate in VR.
What the minimums tell you
The spec sheet is modest. The named GPUs are older cards, and the 6 GB VRAM line means you should check how much memory yours has before buying. Because Steam lists no recommended tier, nobody can say yet what hardware holds a smooth frame rate at higher render resolutions. If you plan to run a high-resolution headset, the demo is the safest benchmark available until November 5.
For most owners of a current VR-ready PC, the practical question is the headset connection, not the hardware. Quest owners who buy the Quest version skip the PC requirements entirely.
