Witchbrook comes out on January 28, 2027. Chucklefish set the date during the Nintendo Indie World showcase on October 28, as Nintendo Life reported, and the Steam store page now lists the same day. The game is coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, and it’s now confirmed for PS5 too. Release date trailers went up on the official Nintendo, PlayStation and Xbox YouTube channels the same day.
No launch time or price has been announced yet, and the Steam page doesn’t list a price. Switch owners don’t have to pick a version to wait for: the original Switch and Switch 2 editions both launch on January 28, alongside the PC, Xbox and PS5 versions. If you want it on Steam, the store page is open for wishlists now.
About the game
Witchbrook is a life sim and social RPG from Chucklefish, the studio behind Starbound and Wargroove, with Robotality co-developing. You play a new student at Witchbrook College in the seaside town of Mossport. Mossport is the game’s whole map: a harbor town with the college, shops and homes you can visit, and you can fly across it once you have a broom. Days are split between classes, jobs around town, making friends, dating classmates and flying around the map on a broom you first have to earn a license for. You can play alone or bring up to three friends along in online co-op.
The PS5 version is the bigger change here. Earlier plans left PlayStation owners out, and a cozy co-op game lives or dies on whether your friends can actually play it with you. A late January slot also helps: it lands after the holiday rush, when fewer big games are competing for attention. For example, Team17’s Hokko Spaces and Funselektor’s Over the Hill at $24.99 both landed in the crowded fall window. Pricing is the open question to watch, since Chucklefish hasn’t said whether the game will come in at the usual indie price point.
The date is on our release calendar and we’ll update this story when the price and unlock time are out.
