Pokémon Unite will shut down on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC, The Pokémon Company said on October 27. The end of service covers both the Nintendo Switch version and the mobile version, and after that moment nobody can log in or play a match.
In your time zone, that’s 8:00 p.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. PT on Monday, March 22, midnight in the UK, and 9:00 a.m. JST on Tuesday.
The company’s notice says Switch service began on July 21, 2021. Here’s what changes between now and the end:
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| October 27, 2026 (05:00 UTC) | Aeos gem sales stop. New UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals stop. |
| November 12, 2026 | A special event and update begins, with a “library” feature. |
| December 5, 2026 | Qualifiers for the Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament start. |
| March 23, 2027 (00:00 UTC) | Service ends on Switch and mobile. |
Gems you already own can still be spent until service ends, and current UNITE Club members keep their benefits until their membership period runs out. The November 12 event will give out Unite licenses and Holowear that have appeared in the game so far.
The library is a feature for viewing certain records and in-game content after shutdown. It only works if you finish the required data download before the shutdown, and the notice says library data generally can’t be moved to a new device. Players who skip the download lose access to it. For example, a lapsed player who returns for the November 12 event has until the cutoff to grab the data. The company also says it will stop publishing and maintaining its content guidelines for online platforms, and won’t support use of the game’s videos and images, once service ends.
The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament, from The Pokémon Company‘s notice, will still go ahead as previously announced, according to the notice.
The cutoff leaves about five months, and the only dated action for most players is the November 12 update. If you’ve spent money on gems, use them before March, and if you want the library, download its data well ahead of the deadline rather than on the last day.
