PEAK is live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The update that came with the ports is why your Steam download got bigger: Team PEAK is adding 208 maps that cycle forever, so the game no longer needs a fresh map patch every two weeks.

The studio set out the change on Thursday, October 22, the day the console versions went live, as our release time guide had it, and explained the reasoning in a video on its official channel. GamesRadar reports the patch is about 10GB, taking the Steam install size to about 15GB, and that the rotation used to ship roughly 30 new maps at a time.

Crossplay is what console players came for. Steam players can join console lobbies with the room codes Team PEAK added a couple of months ago. Two caveats before you restart a climb: progress does not transfer, so badges earned on Steam have to be earned again on console, and mods do not work with console players. New console players can start with our beginner’s guide.

A few launch bugs are still being cleaned up. A Steam lobby bug that blocked players joining games in other regions was patched on October 23, and a Switch 2 bug that clips through the floor on high jumps is being fixed. PlayStation regional pricing, including unusually high prices in Brazil, is being adjusted, so Team PEAK asked players in affected regions to wait a few days before buying.
