ANOMALITH (アノマリス), Japanese studio Furyu’s first-person survival horror shooter, crossed 100,000 Steam wishlists ahead of its October 28 release and is now playable through a free demo as part of Steam Next Fest: October 2026 Edition, Furyu confirmed on October 19. The wishlist figure has since passed 120,000, per the publisher’s announcement, with a milestone video posted to the official ANOMALITH YouTube channel the same day.

Steam Next Fest is Steam’s twice-yearly festival of free timed demos from Steam. The ANOMALITH demo runs October 20 through October 26, the final Next Fest before launch. It’s an updated version of the demo Furyu ran in August, with rebalanced gunplay and the final pass on the Otherworld dives that drive the core loop. A second Furyu game, the Alice in Wonderland roguelike CRYMELIGHT, is also playable in Next Fest through October 26. (Pixel Herald covered CRYMELIGHT’s English launch on October 16 and its PC specs guide on October 18; see also our Crowded Steam Next Fest demo list for what else is live this week.)

ANOMALITH launches October 28, 2026 in the US, which is October 29 at midnight JST worldwide, on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. A 10% pre-order discount runs on consoles, and a 10% Steam discount runs for the first two weeks after launch. The base game lists at $49.99 / ¥7,800 (¥8,580 with tax). The Digital Deluxe Edition is $69.99 / ¥11,000 (¥12,100 with tax) and adds an 80-page art book, a select soundtrack, and the “Anomaly Zone Countermeasures Office” DLC set. PS5 pre-orders also include a 48-hour early-access window and a bonus mission and outfit via the “Lost Property Control Organization” pack. The Switch 2 physical release carries a limited “Special Danger Zone Countermeasures Office BOX” at ¥12,100. The full lineup is on Pixel Herald’s release calendar.

The shooter is set in Showa-era Japan, where Otherworlds are spatial anomalies that have started appearing without warning. (Backrooms-style “endless liminal spaces” are the publisher’s stated touchstone for these.) Players control Reona Minazuki, a 17-year-old investigator pulled out of a ten-year slumber inside an anomaly called the Sarcophagus, who joins the government’s Special Danger Zone Countermeasures Office to find a missing friend and trace the source of the Otherworlds. The script is by Tanaka Romeo, the writer of Cross Channel and Saya no Uta, and the character designs are by MON, the artist behind Alchemy Stars. Per the press release, ANOMALITH is inspired by horror staples and recent hits like Backrooms, with fast-paced gunfights against creatures in worlds where gravity inverts and corridors bend.

To celebrate the wishlist milestone, ANOMALITH will collaborate with Peripeteia, the cyberpunk immersive sim from Poland’s Ninth Exodus, at launch. CRYMELIGHT will collaborate with three Korean and Japanese games at its own launch: Garden of Witches, Magical Princess, and Eternal Palace Sakura. Furyu is also giving away five ANOMALITH Steam codes and ten CRYMELIGHT codes through its Discord from October 20 to October 27.

The wishlist milestone matters because Furyu is, by its own admission, a print-stickers-and-crime-character-merchoma company that has only recently pivoted into bigger-budget console and PC games. 100K wishlists for an unproven in-house TPS, with eight days to launch and no established Western marketing muscle, would have been unthinkable for the studio five years ago. The fact that ANOMALITH cleared 120K before a single English outlet other than the publisher’s own press release picked it up is a sign that Furyu’s CRYMELIGHT, Crystar, and Crymachina have built a small but loyal English-tagged audience that actually pre-orders these things. For Western players this is a quietly meaningful shift: a Japanese mid-tier publisher can now launch a $50 niche horror shooter worldwide on day one without a Western PR partner.

Can you play it in English?

Yes. The Steam listing for ANOMALITH (app ID 4017880) confirms English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text, with Japanese as the only fully voiced language. The publisher’s English press release confirms the $49.99 base and $69.99 Digital Deluxe price, the 10% Steam launch discount, and the PS5 pre-order bonus, so the global rollout lines up with the JST launch. The Western digital stores get the game at the same time as Japan, with no separate Western delay announced. There is no region lock on the physical Switch 2 release (Switch 2 is region-free for game cards), so a Japanese retail copy will play on Western hardware. PSN accounts are region-locked for digital purchases, but the Western storefront is part of the global launch.
