Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.4 is going to introduce Sunbringer, an agent the game has never had before, and HoYoverse has confirmed a Honkai: Star Rail collaboration. The details came in an official Zenless Zone Zero preview showcase published on PlayStation’s channel, which says Sunbringer “will make her official debut in Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.4 as a brand-new Void Hunter and the first-ever Enchainer Agent” and that the collaboration is “also on the way”.
The character has been part of the story for a while. Sunbringer is one of the first-generation Void Hunters, and since Version 3.0 she has appeared in full as the ruler of a new area. Inside Games reports that she splits into three characters, Drakina, Lindvenernu and Elder Sunbringer, who are playable as a trio, with the combat footage showing Elder and Lindvenernu trading places in a fight while Drakina steps in for the parry moments. Sunbringer is a Fire-attribute agent.
The Star Rail side has details too. Inside Games reports that the collaboration agents are Kafka, who is Electric-attribute, and Robin, who is Ether-attribute, with Robin appearing briefly in Sunbringer’s showcase footage. The same report puts the collaboration itself in Version 3.4.
No release date comes with it. HoYoverse has not announced when Version 3.4 goes live, and the version in the game right now is 3.3, “Journey to the Sky”, which was updated on October 21.
Zenless Zone Zero’s Steam audience has been growing over the past week. According to Steam player data tracked by Pixel Herald, the game’s 24-hour peak reached 12,348 players, up 68% from the week before. The highest figure we have recorded since we started sampling on October 11 is 15,402.
The label worth reading twice is “first-ever Enchainer Agent”, because HoYoverse has been pointing at the Enchainer and the first generation of Void Hunters since the Version 3.1 special program. A brand-new agent type is rarely a reskin, and a unit made of three characters that swap places mid-fight suggests the combat role is built around switching bodies rather than one button combo. For example, our own tracked 24-hour peaks put Zenless Zone Zero at 12,348 players, below The Finals at 27,770 in the same window, and a long way below Counter-Strike 2, which was alone over a million concurrent players in our sample. The collaboration is the bigger headline for anyone who plays both games, and HoYoverse confirmed it in the same breath as Sunbringer, which usually means the two land together. It is the sort of limited-time crossover we covered with Love and Deepspace’s Blade Runner 2049 event. The calendar is the part that is still blank: players got the agent, the collab and the first look at the new combat, but no date to put in a diary.
