Quick answer: Buy the EA Sports FC 27 Standard Edition at $69.99 if you play Career mode, Manager Career or The Grounds. Pick the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 ($74.99 while EA’s 25% discount is running) if Football Ultimate Team is your mode, because it adds up to 6,000 FC Points, the Season 1 Premium Pass and an extra Player Evolution Slot. The third edition, Ultimate Plus, had the most content of the three but was early-bird only and stopped being sold on August 31, 2026.

What the Standard Edition gives you
The Standard Edition is the full game. EA’s FAQ says it includes access to the full game and all core modes from the global launch on September 25, 2026. Everything else EA listed for it was pre-order content: Career pre-order challenges, three ICONs or Heroes for Career, a 5-star Coach and a 5-star Youth Scout for Manager Career, The Grounds Signature Sweatsuit, the Tier 3 AMP inspired by Kylian Mbappé, two Double AXP consumables for 10 matches, and one untradeable 92+ OVR ICON Player Item for FC 26.
That offer has expired. EA’s buy page states the Standard pre-order offer ended at 23:00 UTC on September 24 for PC and at midnight local time the following morning for every other platform. A Standard buyer today gets the game and its modes, and none of that bonus pack.
What the Ultimate Edition adds
Ultimate is the edition for Ultimate Team players, and EA’s FAQ lists what it carries:
- Up to seven days of early access, with full access from September 18, 2026.
- The Premium Pass for Season 1.
- Up to 6,000 FC Points, delivered across three monthly drops.
- An extra Player Evolution Slot.
- Career pre-order challenges, a Pre-Season Boost for Dynamic OVR, three ICONs or Heroes, a 5-star Coach, a 5-star Youth Scout and a 5-star Senior Scout, plus five extra Manager Live Challenge Creation Slots.
- The Grounds Signature Sweatsuit, the Mbappé Tier 3 AMP and two AXP consumables for 10 matches.
- From FC 26, which is sold separately: a 99 DRI Stat Evolution and a 93+ OVR ICON 1 of 4 Player Pick.
Two of those are early-bird extras. EA marks the 85+ OVR International ICON Player Item and the FC 26 pick as items for pre-orders placed by August 31. Pre-orders then ran until September 24 and still granted the FC 26 pick with the rest of the package, and since September 25 the Ultimate Edition has been on general sale.
FC Points land in your account the first time you log in, then on the 15th of each month. To receive all 6,000 points you have to complete the steps for the first drop by August 1, 2027, and after September 26, 2027 you get none of them.
Ultimate Plus is gone, and it was the best deal
Ultimate Plus was the edition for people who wanted everything before anyone else. It carried seven days of early access, Premium Passes for Seasons 1 through 5, up to 10,000 FC Points in five monthly drops, the 85+ OVR International ICON Player Item, a 1 of 5 Hall of FUT Direct Player Pick from Adebayo Akinfenwa, Giovani dos Santos, Loic Remy, Marouane Fellaini or Eljero Ellia, an extra Ultimate Team Player Evolution Slot, the Career pack, the Mbappé Tier 3 AMP, a Signature Sweatsuit in The Grounds and three FC 26 items.
It was only sold between July 23 and August 31, and EA says it never appeared on Nintendo platforms or the Epic Games Store. EA’s FAQ is blunt about one thing: you cannot upgrade from the Ultimate Edition to Ultimate Plus.
FC 27 Lite: the free version of the game
FC 27 Lite is a free-to-download, limited preview of FC 27 with selected modes such as Kick-Off, and EA says you can upgrade it to the full game at any time. It went live on September 25, 2026 at 16:00 UTC on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the EA App, Steam and the Epic Games Store. Steam lists it as a free download, separate from the $69.99 full game.
Where to buy FC 27, and what it costs
Standard and Ultimate are sold on the EA App for Windows and Mac, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
- Steam sells the Standard Edition at $69.99 with no discount applied.
- EA’s own store lists the Standard at $69.99 and the Ultimate at $99.99, discounted 25% to $74.99 when we checked.
- PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Epic set their own prices, which differ by region and move with sales. Check the store you are buying from before you commit.
Two platform details matter. The Grounds, the new mode that includes Clubs, only runs on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2, so it is missing on PS4 and Xbox One. EA also lets you upgrade a PS4 copy to PS5 or an Xbox One copy to Series X|S at no extra cost.
Which edition should you buy?
- Career or Manager Career player: Standard at $69.99. The Ultimate extras are mostly Ultimate Team items and the Pre-Season Boost, so they do nothing for your save.
- Ultimate Team player who spends on packs: Ultimate at $99.99, or $74.99 while the discount runs. The extra 6,000 points and the Season 1 pass are the reason to pay more.
- New to FC and not sure: download FC 27 Lite for free first, then upgrade in place if it hooks you.
- Chasing the 85+ OVR International ICON or a Hall of FUT pick: you cannot buy those today. They were early-bird extras, and the Hall of FUT pick only ever came with Ultimate Plus.
EA’s editions FAQ lists 19 items for Ultimate Plus, 17 for Ultimate and 8 for Standard, so we counted what the money actually buys. The gap between the $99.99 Ultimate and the $69.99 Standard is $30, and the headline Ultimate perk is 6,000 FC Points. EA sells FC Points on their own as well, and the FC Points pack on Steam is listed at $4.99, so for a player who was buying points anyway the Ultimate Edition is the cheaper route. The opposite is true for the three FC 26 items in the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus lists, because they only do anything if you own FC 26 separately. Ultimate Plus also carried a second FC 26 stat evolution that Ultimate never had.
