Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World launches on December 3, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). In Japan it’s Dragon Quest Monsters 4. The Standard Edition is $59.99.
A free demo has been out on every platform since September, Square Enix announced. It covers the opening chapter, up to the end of the events in Witherwood.
Your demo progress isn’t wasted. You can carry up to eight monsters from your party and reserves into the full game, though they return to Level 1 with their default talents (RPG Site). Playing the demo also unlocks the Wrangler’s Bundle in the full game.
Switch owners should choose carefully. The Switch and Switch 2 versions don’t share save data, and there’s no upgrade path between them.
Our read: from our analysis of the versions, if you own a Switch 2, buy that version. It’s the same price, and you can’t move a Switch save across later. It’s also the first Dragon Quest Monsters on PlayStation in over 20 years, per Push Square. December’s other big release is Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2; both are on our Release Calendar.
