Quick answer:

  • No on Xbox Game Pass. Xbox has not put The Wolf Among Us Remastered in Game Pass for launch day. In Xbox Wire’s weekly release list for October 26 to 30, published October 23, the remaster sits in the October 29 slot with an “XBOX Play Anywhere” tag and no Game Pass tag, while other games in the same post carry one: Scramble Knights Online is tagged “Game Pass / XBOX Play Anywhere” and Terrible Lizards “Game Pass / Smart Delivery / XBOX Play Anywhere”.
  • No on PS Plus Extra or Premium at launch. Telltale’s own launch discount page prices the PS5 version at 20% off for PlayStation Plus members and at full price for everyone else. That is a member discount, not free access, and the remaster is absent from PlayStation’s October PS Plus game catalog.
  • It is a $24.99 purchase, with a launch discount for new players and a steeper one for people who already own the original digital game. Telltale and PM Studios set the price in their October 20 press release.
  • You can play the first episode free before launch. The complete Episode 1, “Faith”, is free on Steam during Steam Next Fest through October 26.

Is The Wolf Among Us Remastered on Game Pass or PS Plus?

Short answer: no on both, at least on October 29.

Xbox’s ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase recap on October 20 introduced the remaster with a new trailer and a launch date, and the same post names Game Pass explicitly for other games in the show. Mouthwashing arrives “on XBOX Series X|S, XBOX On PC, XBOX One, and XBOX Game Pass on October 29, 2026”. Scramble Knights Online launches “for XBOX Series X|S, XBOX on PC, and Game Pass”. The Wolf Among Us Remastered gets no such sentence. Xbox’s recap calls it a launch “on XBOX Series X|S and XBOX One”, and the weekly release post three days later adds one detail: the remaster is an “XBOX Play Anywhere” title, so one purchase covers console and the Xbox PC storefront.

Play Anywhere is not Game Pass. It is the program that lets you buy a game once and install it on both your console and your Windows PC. Several games in Xbox’s October 23 post carry Play Anywhere without Game Pass, and The Wolf Among Us Remastered is one of them.

For PlayStation, the evidence sits in the discount table rather than a catalog listing. Telltale’s launch page has a row for PlayStation 5: PlayStation Plus members get 20% off, and readers without a subscription pay full price. A game that was included with PS Plus Extra would not need a member discount at all. The October PS Plus Extra and Premium line-up, Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, Mycopunk and more, does not list it either, though that catalog turns over monthly, so nobody has ruled out a later addition.

We compared the two official launch-week documents side by side: Xbox’s October 23 release post, which prints a Game Pass tag on every Game Pass title that week, and Telltale’s discount table, which prices a PS Plus discount where an included game would need no price at all. Both name the game; in both, the subscription services are missing. Two independent documents, one conclusion: this is a purchase, not a subscription drop.

What does the launch discount cost, store by store?

Telltale’s launch discount page sets out the full table, and the rule is the same on every store: buy the remaster on the same store, with the same account, you used for the original. Only digital copies of the original qualify, because physical copies cannot be verified.

Store New players Digital owners of the original
Steam 20% off 50% off
Epic Games Store 20% off 50% off
Xbox 20% off 50% off
PlayStation 5 (PS Plus members) 20% off 50% off
PlayStation 5 (no PS Plus) Full price 30% off

Telltale’s page notes that “prices and exact end times vary by region and store”, so check your own store page for the clock. Our launch price guide has the dollar math worked out from the $24.99 base price.

Where can you play The Wolf Among Us Remastered on October 29?

Telltale and PM Studios list PlayStation 5, Xbox One (playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility), and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Nintendo Switch version “will launch at a later date, with timing to be shared soon”, and physical retail editions “will follow in early 2027”.

That means the launch lineup is PS5, Xbox and PC only. If you are a Switch player, this is a “not yet” story rather than a “never” one, and the launch week timing is already in our release time guide. The full release details are on our launch guide and the game page at /game/the-wolf-among-us-remastered/.

Is there a physical copy of The Wolf Among Us Remastered?

Yes, but not on launch day. Telltale’s press release says physical retail editions will follow in early 2027, with details to be announced. The October 29 release is digital only, on every platform.

Can you carry your save from PC to console?

Cross-save works, with a catch: it stays inside one ecosystem, so Steam saves move to Steam and PlayStation Network saves move between PS5 and PS4, but they do not travel between PC and console. The game is single-player, so there is no crossplay to worry about. Our cross-platform explainer has the detail.

On the PC side, the remaster is undemanding: 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti for 1080p. Valve had not published a Steam Deck rating when we checked on October 19, so our Steam Deck guide will carry the badge as soon as Valve publishes one.

What else is new in the remaster?

The remaster rebuilds Bigby Wolf’s first investigation with enhanced environments, improved character fidelity, and upgraded animation and audio. On top of that, Telltale lists an all-new Noir Mode that turns Fabletown into a black-and-white detective film with one tap, five fully playable Lost Scenes restored from the 2013 production, a 100+ image art gallery, and more than an hour of behind-the-scenes developer interviews. The whole story runs in five episodes. Telltale also confirms The Wolf Among Us 2 will continue Bigby’s story in 2027.

Is there a demo before launch?

Yes, and it is the whole first episode rather than a slice. The demo covers Episode 1, “Faith”, and is free on Steam through the end of Steam Next Fest on October 26, according to Telltale’s press release. If you have been waiting for a reason to try the remaster, that is the cheapest one.

The remastered version arrives on October 29. If you own the original digital game, the 50% discount is the cheapest way in; if you do not, 20% off the $24.99 launch price is the only sale on the table.
