Factorio 2.1 is now stable for Factorio and Factorio: Space Age, Wube Software said on October 23, 2026. The final major feature update adds mixed rockets, platform-to-platform transfers, landing-pad unloading bays and native ARM64 Linux support, but it also comes with a save compatibility warning for existing factories.
The biggest changes are for Factorio: Space Age. Rockets can now carry different item types in one launch, platforms can pull items from every available location, and orbital platforms can request or provide items to one another. Hub requests can also be controlled through the circuit network, while the new Radar Universe mode sends circuit signals between planets and platforms.
The base game gets a wider quality-of-life pass. Factorio adds a landing-pad cargo bay for inserters, separates circuit-network input and output, lets Space Age run without Quality, refreshes some graphics and changes how enemy expansions scale. If the refreshed visuals are too heavy on your machine, our PC graphics settings guide covers the settings worth lowering first. The update also adds native ARM64 Linux support for devices including Steam Frame, Raspberry Pi headless servers and Asahi Linux on Apple Silicon MacBooks.
Players should back up before updating. Wube says 2.0 saves will load, but changes such as the circuit input/output split can break existing factory designs. Saves and blueprints cannot be downgraded to 2.0 after the update, and some mods may not be ready yet. Steam player data tracked by Pixel Herald showed 18,708 concurrent players when we checked shortly after the stable release.
Calling 2.1 the last major update makes this a consolidation milestone as much as a feature release. For long-running factories, the practical move is to back up saves and let favorite mods catch up before rebuilding around mixed rockets or the circuit-network split. Wube says future work will focus on bug fixes, platform support and modding features rather than active gameplay development.
