Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom’s paid expansion adds a new story set in the snowy northern region of Norgan, and it doubles as the series’ first appearance on a Nintendo platform.
The expansion launched today, October 9, 2026, according to a Capcom press release. On PS5, Xbox, and PC it is sold as a separate DLC for owners of the base game, while the Switch 2 version bundles the base game and the expansion into a single package. Capcom framed the multi-platform push as a way to “further broaden its user base.”
What’s in the expansion
Dark Arisen is set in Norgan, a once-prosperous part of Vermund that players travel to as part of a new main story. Hardcore Gamer’s launch-day coverage describes the Norgan Settlement, a new hub area, and new quest content including a main quest called “Soul Searching” and a side quest called “Reaching the Far Shore” that unlocks a “Tailor Equipment” option for changing the appearance of relic gear and weapons. The DLC also adds a relic appraisal system, new spells and class options, and more character creator choices like hairstyles and tattoos.
The expansion was built with player feedback from the base game in mind, per Capcom, which said the team aimed for “greater accessibility and additional content” aimed at both longtime fans and newcomers.
What it means for players
If you have been waiting for a reason to revisit Dragon’s Dogma 2, the expansion is now the reason. The new region is endgame-focused, so players are encouraged to bring a high-level character north rather than start from scratch. Existing saves carry over.
The Switch 2 release is the bigger story for Nintendo players. Dragon’s Dogma 2 has never been on a Nintendo platform before, and the Switch 2 version ships as a single product that includes both the base game and Dark Arisen. Anyone who picks it up gets the full package on day one.
Capcom says the Dragon’s Dogma series has sold more than 14 million units total across all entries, as of March 31, 2026. The Switch 2 launch gives the franchise its first shot at Nintendo’s installed base, and it lands in a fall window that already includes the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 port on December 4.
What’s next
Dark Arisen is available now on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, and the Nintendo eShop. PS5, Xbox, and PC players need to own Dragon’s Dogma 2 before they can buy the DLC. Switch 2 players get the whole game in one purchase.
