Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is free and arrives on Thursday, October 22, 2026, CD Projekt RED confirmed on X. The patch is tied to the second season of the anime series Edgerunners, and the studio says it brings new items and features inspired by the show.

The developer’s Steam announcement names two headline additions: cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle. It adds “and more,” so the full list is still under wraps. CD Projekt RED hasn’t published patch notes, a file size or a platform breakdown yet.

The details are coming in a livestream. A REDstream on Wednesday, October 21 will walk through Update 2.5 and some of its new features. It starts at 5 PM CEST. You can watch on Twitch, YouTube or Steam.

Region REDstream start (Wed, Oct 21)
Central Europe (CEST) 5 PM
UK (BST) 4 PM
US Eastern (EDT) 11 AM
US Central (CDT) 10 AM

The official announcement on the studio’s investor-relations X account calls the update “yet another opportunity to dive back into Night City or experience it for the very first time.” It does not say whether the update covers every platform the game runs on, so check the patch notes on Thursday before you plan around a specific console.

CD Projekt RED also credited the artists behind the official Update 2.5 illustration: Taisei Uchida for the original art, Yukiko Kakita for ink and paint check, and Yuichiro Tozawa for special effects.

If you haven’t looked at the anime side of this, we covered the cast news for the new season earlier: Kojima returns as Hideyoshi Oshima in Edgerunners 2.

This is a free patch timed to a TV season rather than a paid expansion, which is an easy yes for anyone who already owns the game. For anyone who dropped the game a while ago, dual-wielding and cyberware customization are build-changing additions that could justify coming back, but you’ll want the patch notes before you rework a character. Leaked contents are circulating on Reddit, though none of it has been confirmed by CD Projekt RED, so wait for Wednesday’s stream.
