Enshrouded, the co-op survival RPG from Frankfurt-based Keen Games, hit a 113,542 concurrent-player peak on Steam by Sunday afternoon, October 18, per Pixel Herald’s hourly sample of Steam’s player API. The 1.0 version shipped on October 15 alongside the studio’s PlayStation 5 debut, and Steam player counts have climbed every day since. Saturday’s 24-hour peak was 102,491 (per SteamDB), so the game picked up roughly 11,000 more concurrent players in the last 24 hours.

The October 15 launch ended more than two and a half years of Early Access on Steam and marked the first time the game left PC. Keen Games’ pre-launch press release (issued through Evolve PR on October 14) confirmed the launch time at 4 p.m. CEST / 10 a.m. EDT / 7 a.m. PDT on October 15. The release brought new biomes, raised level cap, a settlement system expansion and the conclusion of the main storyline. PS5 Pro support shipped at launch, per the developer.

The 1.0 peak so far is well below the game’s January 2024 Early Access high of 160,361, when the survival-crafting boom briefly sent concurrent numbers vertical. It’s the highest figure the title has recorded since January 2024, and it’s the first time the game has crossed 100,000 concurrent players since. For comparison, Modern Warfare 4 hit a 108,471 peak on its October 16 launch day (per our MW4 Steam Hub coverage), and MW4 is one of the biggest shooter franchises in the industry. A co-op survival indie pulling comparable numbers is a strong result for the genre.

Enshrouded’s 1.0 launch is one of the largest indie survival-crafting exits of 2026. It’s also one of the first console debuts to land on the PS5’s growing indie survival scene, with the PEAK console port launching the same week and Cult of the Lamb on Switch 2 just four days later. Crossplay between PC and PS5 is not enabled at launch, per Keen Games’ pre-launch Steam FAQ — a question the PEAK crossplay guide addressed for that title.

The 1.0 release date and the rest of the launch details are also in our Enshrouded release-time guide from launch week.

The 113K peak validates a three-year bet Keen Games made on Early Access as a release model. The studio shipped the Early Access build in January 2024, weathered the survival-crafting oversaturation through 2025, and returned with a 1.0 build that delivers on the original pitch. The PS5 launch matters more than the raw peak: it opens a new console audience that was never exposed to the Early Access version. The bigger question for the next two weeks is retention. Survival-crafting peaks are usually sharp, then fall to a long tail as players complete the story arc. Whether Enshrouded holds above 50K through the end of October will tell us whether 1.0 brought back lapsed players or just attracted the launch-week crowd.
