The biggest games of the next seven days are not a single new billion-dollar franchise, but a stack of second chances, ports, and one long-overdue return. Konami is back in 2D Castlevania territory, Keen Games’ Enshrouded finally leaves Early Access, Hazelight brings It Takes Two to Nintendo’s new handheld, and Capcom’s RE remakes land as native Switch 2 games. Tuesday, October 13
Planet Zoo 2 (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S), $49.99 standard, $64.99 Deluxe. Frontier Developments’ full sequel to the 2019 management sim goes live at midnight UTC, with a free demo already on Steam and our release time post and PC specs guide already live.
Valor Mortis (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S). One More Level’s Napoleonic-era Soulslike, the dark horse of the week. The Oct 13 review cluster calls it atmospheric and original but with combat that doesn’t quite land.
Thursday, October 15 (the heavy day)
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2), $29.99 standard, $39.99 Midnight Edition. Konami’s first new 2D Castlevania in years, developed with Evil Empire and built around a non-linear Castlevania-style structure. A free demo has been live on every platform since October 1, and pre-orders are open with day-one unlocks. Konami is using the gap left by the dormant mainline series to test whether Castlevania can come back as a smaller, more frequent release.
Enshrouded (PC, PS5), $29.99. After roughly 33 months in Early Access, Keen Games’ survival-craft RPG exits 1.0 with new regions, major mage-class changes, a feature the studio is calling Sparkworks, and PS5 Pro support. An Xbox Series X|S version is planned for Spring 2027. The original Early Access launch was January 24, 2024.
It Takes Two (Switch 2). Hazelight’s 2021 Game of the Year co-op only finally comes to a Nintendo platform, five years late. The Switch 2 version includes the Friend’s Pass so only one of you needs to own it, same as on every other platform.
Ratatan (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2). Ratata Arts’ rhythm-roguelike leaves Early Access on the same day it lands on consoles, with Chapters 3 and 4 finishing the story. The closest thing to a true Patapon successor, with the same four-beat attack-defense structure and a 1-4 player online co-op twist.
Toy Story 3 Complete Edition (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2). The 2010 tie-in remastered for current hardware and bundled with the Toy Box mode. A clean family-game pickup for a quiet Thursday.
Bluey’s Happy Snaps (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2). Gameloft’s photography-themed Bluey adventure, the second major Bluey game after Halfbrick’s Bluey: Quest for the Gold Pen earlier this year. Nintendo Life’s mini review calls it a light, breezy experience pitched at younger kids.
Friday, October 16
Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Remakes (Switch 2, digital). Capcom’s long-promised native Switch 2 versions of the three RE Engine remakes finally drop, replacing the cloud-streamed versions that launched on the original Switch. RE2 Deluxe Edition and RE4 Gold Edition include all DLC, including the Separate Ways expansion. Physical editions and a trilogy bundle are scheduled for January 29, 2027, and the trilogy has not been announced as a single digital bundle yet.
Tales of Eternia Remastered (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2). Bandai Namco’s remastered JRPG, the latest entry in the steady Tales of remaster line.
Our pick of the week: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Our read: Two things make this stand out in a week that otherwise leans on ports and 1.0 updates. The first is the price. $29.99 for a new Konami-published Castlevania is a meaningful change of pace, and the $39.99 Midnight Edition adds digital content on top. The second is the demo. The October 1 demo was already the most-played thing on the Castlevania subreddit before launch, and the response has been warm rather than cautious, which is rare for a series that has spent the last decade coasting on collections and pachinko machines.
The bigger question is what this signals for the rest of Konami’s 2026 and 2027 slate. Silent Hill is getting a second and third wave of games (per the company’s own October statements), and the company’s renewed push into smaller, faster-turnaround games is the more interesting story than any single release. Belmont’s Curse is a test of whether the Castlevania audience will show up for a new 2D game at a smaller price, on the same week as a Planet Zoo 2 and a stacked RE Switch 2 launch. If it does, expect Konami to keep doing this.
