Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Prologue Demo comes to Nintendo Switch 2 on October 19 (PT) / October 20 (BST), Capcom confirmed today. The free demo lets Switch 2 players play through the game’s opening up to Chapter 1-3, “To the Forest,” with all 14 weapon types and the character creator unlocked, and any save data carries over to the full game when it launches on the platform on December 4.
Unlike the Prologue Demo on other consoles, the Switch 2 version supports local co-op: two players on nearby Switch 2 systems can hunt together without online matchmaking, a Capcom first for the demo. The demo stays offline-only otherwise, and online multiplayer requires the full release.
The full Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 edition launches on December 4 for $49.99. Capcom’s pre-existing performance optimizations for the hybrid console, applied during a “painstaking, seemingly endless process” per the studio, are also improving frame rates on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam versions.
