Battlefield 6 is now on EA Play, the Electronic Arts subscription included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. EA confirmed the move this morning in a joint Xbox Wire post: Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can jump into the all-out-warfare shooter today, and EA Play members get a Season 5 EA Play Pack plus recurring seasonal rewards and 10% off other EA digital purchases.

The Xbox Wire announcement, bylined by Juliet Niczewicz, EA’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications, frames Battlefield 6 as the “definitive Battlefield experience”: all-out war, fast-paced close-quarters combat, and tactical destruction. The wider story is a major European NATO collapse with the U.S. and its allies scrambling against a new political power. EA Play is also pushing a Deployment Pack to members who haven’t already claimed it, and is teasing recurring seasonal rewards going forward. EA’s own Battlefield 6 page now lists EA Play among the membership benefits, with the standard “unlimited access to a collection of top EA titles” language. The announcement fits a pattern we covered last week: Xbox’s LABS group is actively centralizing AI-driven ports and broader device reach, and the Battlefield 6 move pushes in the same direction by making the title reachable from a Microsoft-bundled subscription.

Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, 2025, as a full-priced game on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Until today, the only way to play it was to buy it outright. The EA Play addition is the first time a subscription-tier path is open, and for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers (the most popular Game Pass tier) it comes bundled at no extra cost. Today’s Game of the Year Edition trailer on the official Battlefield YouTube channel confirms the same Battlefield 6 multiplayer experience; this is an availability change, not a new product. The ID@Xbox showcase on October 20 is set to bring more Xbox-bundled reveals alongside this kind of subscription-tier activity.

EA Play is Electronic Arts’ subscription service, included with Game Pass Ultimate. Game Pass Ultimate is Microsoft’s top-tier Xbox and PC subscription, combining Game Pass Console, Game Pass PC, and EA Play into one monthly fee. Battlefield Studios is the EA development label credited on the Battlefield 6 Steam store page. Season 5 is the current Battlefield 6 seasonal content cycle, themed around Las Vegas per the official Season 5 trailer from the XBOX channel. Game of the Year Edition is the standard re-release of Battlefield 6, sold separately on Steam and console stores; EA Play members get unlimited access without buying the GOTY Edition outright. NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the political and military alliance whose collapse frames Battlefield 6’s near-future setting. This is the second big first-party Day 1-style subscription inclusion for Xbox in the same week, following Planet Zoo 2’s Day 1 on Game Pass and the Planet Zoo 2 multiplayer and crossplay guide.

The pattern in numbers: Battlefield 6 is the second marquee 2025-2026 shooter to make a mid-cycle subscription-tier move. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 added its own launch-day Game Pass trial in late September, but the headline was a one-week trial, not unlimited access. EA’s move today is bigger for the long tail: every Game Pass Ultimate subscriber can now play Battlefield 6 indefinitely, including the full Season 5 Las Vegas content cycle. For reference, EA Play standalone is $5.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and a Game Pass Ultimate subscription that bundles Battlefield 6 plus all of Game Pass’s day-one Xbox and PC catalog is a meaningfully different deal than buying Battlefield 6 alone.

Our read: the math for players who held off on the $70 launch price just changed. Anyone on Game Pass Ultimate can now play Battlefield 6’s full multiplayer suite, including the Season 5 Las Vegas update, without buying the game. For EA Play members who already paid the standalone subscription, the Season 5 EA Play Pack and 10% discount on other EA titles is the sweetener. If you’ve been on the fence about Game Pass Ultimate specifically to play Battlefield 6, the subscription just became the cheapest legal path in.

By the numbers: 1 year + 3 days from Battlefield 6’s Oct 10, 2025 launch to today’s EA Play addition; 1 subscription tier that bundles the game (Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play); 1 standalone subscription tier (EA Play, $5.99/month or $29.99/year); 1 Season 5 content cycle included; 10% discount on other EA digital purchases for EA Play members; 3 platforms (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC); 1 publisher (Electronic Arts); 1 development label (Battlefield Studios, per the EA.com game page and Steam store page).
