Battlefield 6‘s Steam free trial now runs through 5 PM UTC on Tuesday, October 20 (10 AM PDT, 1 PM EDT, 6 PM CEST), Electronic Arts confirmed in a Steam News post this afternoon. The publisher also extended the trial’s accompanying 2x XP weekend to the same Tuesday cutoff, giving players an extra four days to grind Career Rank and unlock Battle Pass Tiers.
EA said the free trial that opened on October 15 “did not work for all players on its first day,” citing an issue it says has since been resolved. The post, signed by Battlefield Studios, points players at the free trial’s strongest hooks: the Area 51 and Vegas Strip maps in the current Season 5 rotation. Players who only ran the REDSEC battle royale files earlier will need to grab the Multiplayer client to see the full set of modes. EA’s fix: close and restart Steam, head to the Battlefield 6 store page, and click “Play Game” to start the multiplayer download. Players who already have the right files can also right-click Battlefield 6 in their library, choose “DLC,” and pick what to download from there.
The free trial follows Battlefield 6’s October 13 move onto EA Play, the EA subscription bundled with Game Pass Ultimate. Our Battlefield 6 EA Play story has the long-term math for Game Pass subscribers; the free trial is the short-term hook aimed at anyone who hasn’t picked up the game since launch. EA has not said how long it plans to keep the offer open after October 20.
Can you play it in English?
Yes. Battlefield 6’s free trial includes the full multiplayer suite in English on Steam, and the Season 5 Las Vegas content is included for the trial period.
Our read: the extension is the cleanest read of the day for anyone who missed the first 24 hours because of the launch glitch. With Season 5 Las Vegas running and the 2x XP weekend extended through Tuesday, the trial now gives players roughly five days of boosted XP rather than the original single day. The remaining question is what comes after October 20: EA’s note says only that “trial period may vary based on platform,” which leaves the door open for another push or a quiet close.
