The Finals are rolling out a new dynamic commentary feature tomorrow, October 20, that has the game’s announcers call out player usernames in real time whenever they do something notable. The studio revealed the feature in a short video on October 19, saying that instead of the canned “and that’s a good headshot” lines players hear now, matches will get lines like “[player] just landed a good headshot” or “[player] revived a teammate.”

The two voices, Scott and June, are the same ones players already hear during matches; the new system is what decides when to drop a name. The team frames it as a way to make individual plays feel more rewarding in a free-to-play shooter that has always leaned into anonymous team play.

The update is the first major feature drop of The Finals’ ongoing Prime Time content. The studio hasn’t shared a specific unlock time beyond “starting tomorrow,” and the studio has not yet detailed whether the feature will arrive in all regions at once or roll out in waves.

The Finals are free on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
