Phantom Blade Zero Editions Compared: Standard vs Deluxe, Which to Buy
Image: S-GAME Publishing

Phantom Blade Zero is S-GAME’s wuxia action game. It comes out on October 29, 2026 for PS5 and PC, and S-GAME is selling it in two editions: a $59.99 Standard Edition and a $69.99 Digital Deluxe Edition. The extra $10 buys two exclusive outfits, a digital artbook and the soundtrack. It doesn’t buy early access or any gameplay advantage, so most players should get Standard.

Quick answer

  • Buy Standard ($59.99) if you just want to play. It’s the full game, and pre-ordering it gets you the same bonuses as Deluxe.
  • Buy Digital Deluxe ($69.99) if you want the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form outfits for Soul, or you’d pay $10 for the artbook and soundtrack anyway.
  • Don’t buy Deluxe for early access. Neither edition unlocks early. Everyone starts at the same time.
  • Want a disc? There isn’t one. The PlayStation Store lists only digital editions, and no physical release has been announced.

Prices and contents come from the PlayStation Store listing. Steam sells both editions at the same $59.99 and $69.99. The PS5 version is marked PS5 Pro Enhanced.

What the Digital Deluxe Edition adds

The Deluxe Edition is the Standard game plus four extras:

  1. Wulin Legend, a Deluxe-exclusive appearance (outfit) for Soul.
  2. Blood-Steel Form, a second Deluxe-exclusive appearance.
  3. Digital Artbook.
  4. Digital Soundtrack (OST). Composer Bo Caisheng told PCGamesN he wrote some boss themes before the bosses were even designed, so the soundtrack may matter more here than in most action games.

Both outfits are cosmetic. The store listing doesn’t say they change stats, and S-GAME labels them “Exclusive Appearance”, the same name it uses for other outfits. The listing also doesn’t say they can be earned in-game, unlike the pre-order items, so treat them as Deluxe-only.

Pre-order bonuses: same for both editions

Pre-order either edition and you get:

  • Treasure Basin, an accessory that raises the Remnant Dust drop rate by 10%.
  • Legacy, an outfit.

The PlayStation Store and Steam pages both say these items “can also be obtained through in-game progression”. Pre-ordering only gets them to you sooner. That makes the bonus a small head start, not a reason to pre-order, and you lose nothing if you buy after launch.

Is there early access?

No. Neither edition gets in early, which is unusual for a $69.99 Deluxe in 2026. Compare Modern Warfare 4, where the pricier edition is mostly about getting in sooner.

One thing to know about launch timing: the PlayStation Store lists October 29, but Steam shows October 28 for US buyers. That points to a single worldwide unlock that lands on the evening of October 28 in the Americas. S-GAME hasn’t posted an official hour yet. We’ll publish a release-time guide once it does.

Physical edition, upgrades and subscriptions

  • Physical: None announced. Both editions are digital-only on the PlayStation Store, and there’s no Collector’s Edition.
  • Upgrading Standard to Deluxe later: S-GAME hasn’t listed a separate upgrade pack yet. If you think you’ll want the outfits, buying Deluxe up front is the only sure way right now.
  • PS Plus / Game Pass: No subscription launch has been announced. There’s no Xbox version, so Game Pass isn’t an option.

Our read: S-GAME has priced this the way we wish more publishers would. Early access has become the main thing Deluxe editions sell, and Phantom Blade Zero skips it, so nobody pays $10 to avoid spoilers or start a day sooner. That makes the choice simple: the Deluxe is a cosmetics-and-extras bundle, and you can judge it purely on whether you want those outfits.

Which one should you buy?

  • You want to play the game: Standard, $59.99. You get the whole story of Soul’s 66 days, more than 30 weapons and every boss.
  • You care how Soul looks: Digital Deluxe, $69.99. Two exclusive outfits for $10 is a fair price if you were going to buy cosmetics anyway.
  • Soundtrack or art collector: Deluxe. The OST and artbook alone are usually worth about $10.
  • Waiting for reviews: Wait. The pre-order items can be earned in-game, so skipping pre-orders costs you almost nothing.

What Phantom Blade Zero is

Phantom Blade Zero is S-GAME’s “kungfupunk” action game, built in Unreal Engine 5 with fight choreography from wuxia film veterans. You play Soul, framed for his master’s murder and left with 66 days to live. S-GAME says there are more than 30 primary weapons and 20 Phantom Edges, and the developers have said there are more than 50 bosses (our earlier coverage).
