Microsoft has officially announced the Xbox Nano Controller, a $49.99 wireless pad designed to be shorter than most smartphones at just over five inches long and 3.5 ounces. Pre-orders open today and the Nano starts shipping in November across 38 markets, including the US, UK, Japan, Korea, Canada, Australia, and most of Europe.
It’s Microsoft’s smallest controller to date and keeps the full 18 standard Xbox buttons, Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth, plus a rechargeable battery (no AA cells) and a programmable Action Button mapped to screenshots or capture shortcuts. The shipping model drops the tiny display shown in earlier leaks, The Verge reports, but still has a USB-C port at the rear for charging and a pairing button.
Microsoft is also using the launch to push Game Pass. In the US, buying a Nano nets a 2-month Game Pass Ultimate trial through a Samsung TV holiday offer (Xbox’s app ships in Samsung’s Gaming Hub) or bundled with a Meta Quest headset for the holiday window.
The Nano lands as Microsoft’s answer to smaller-handed players and on-the-go cloud play through TVs, phones, tablets and PCs. Pricing and availability vary by country; Microsoft hasn’t confirmed a single global ship date.
