DayZ Badlands, the largest expansion in the history of Bohemia Interactive’s long-running survival game, is available now on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, the studio confirmed today. The expansion drops survivors onto Nasdara, a brand-new 267 km² region in the westernmost part of Takistan: drought-stricken, scarred by abandoned oil infrastructure, border crossings, and forgotten settlements.
Survival changes with the terrain. Extreme heat, drought, and sandstorms make water more important than ever, and the new rebuilding system lets players restore ruined houses, wells, and irrigation-tunnel entrances into functional shelters. Motorbikes give survivors a faster way to cross the arid countryside, while a new terrain-hole system opens access to irrigation tunnels, road tunnels, and underground bunkers. Some bunkers hold valuable loot, with Morse-code radio transmissions providing the coordinates and access codes needed to enter urban sites.
Badlands also adds Nasdara-themed firearms, clothing, and food, plus new wildlife (mouflon, desert monitors, and two varieties of guard dogs). The expansion ships alongside Update 1.30, which brings the new motorbikes and firearms to the base game alongside quality-of-life improvements and fresh modding hooks for the terrain-hole and animation systems.
A standalone price for the expansion wasn’t listed in the announcement; owners of the base DayZ can pick it up via the DayZ Badlands Steam page.
