Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has rolled out its Global Content Alignment server today, bringing redesigned progression, evolved combat, and a pair of major story drops to Netmarble’s open-world RPG. The new server ships alongside the Casterly Rock update and the Season 3 Stormlands patch.

Players can choose to stay on the existing Western Server with their current characters intact, or transition to the new Global Content Alignment server, which carries a reward program based on character progression and cumulative purchase history. The two server options stack up like this:

Option What it carries Who it fits
Western Server (existing) Original progression, combat, and content; existing characters intact Players who want to keep their current build and progress
Global Content Alignment (new) Redesigned progression, evolved combat, earlier co-op access, fresh visuals, Casterly Rock + Stormlands content Players who want a fresh start with transition rewards and the new content on day one

The new server adds redesigned progression systems, evolved combat mechanics, improved social and multiplayer features, earlier access to co-op content, and a refreshed visual layer, Netmarble said.

Today’s update also brings the Casterly Rock story content (the ancestral home of House Lannister) to Western players for the first time. The Season 3 Stormlands update, subtitled “Trial of the Stormlands Bannermen: Rain and Flame,” adds three bannerman houses: House Fell, House Connington, and House Morrigen. Players can side with these houses as they push back against the R’hllor Red Heretic Priest faction, a cult of the Lord of Light.

The patch layers in personal ranking competitions, open-field exploration, and a new artifact called the Breath of Balerion. The studio frames the relic in the lore as fused slag left behind when Aegon the Conqueror and his dragon, Balerion the Black Dread, set Harrenhal ablaze during the Targaryen Conquest. The new server lands roughly five months after the game’s Steam Early Access launch on May 14, 2026.

A Developer’s Note and FAQ published alongside the launch walk through the transition rewards and how to opt in or stay put on the existing Western Server. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is an open-world action RPG based on HBO’s Game of Thrones, officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the games side.

Our read: The Global Content Alignment launch is a structural choice, not just a content drop. By offering a parallel server with redesigned systems and a transition reward program, Netmarble is treating Kingsroad’s Korean, Asian, and Western player bases as one live game for the first time since the Steam launch in May. The Casterly Rock content has been in the Korean build for months. Bringing it West on a synchronized schedule is a meaningful shift for a licensed title whose player population has historically fragmented by region. For existing players, the practical question is whether the redesigned progression and combat on the new server justify a fresh start with the reward bonus, or whether staying put on the Western Server is the better call. The same week, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse reviews and a fresh mobile push for Sifu on iOS and Android point to how Western players are getting more cross-platform RPG launches in the same October window. The new content lands on the full release calendar alongside Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, releasing October 15.
