Kyoto-based Q-Games has put the first playable demo of PixelJunk Monsters 3 live on Steam for Steam Next Fest, starting today, October 20, 2026, 4Gamer reports. The Next Fest demo is a real build of the new roguelike-tower-defense hybrid, not a teaser: players run around and dance, building towers against swarms of Monsters while each session generates a fresh map and tower loadout. Q-Games is tying the launch to two milestones, 20 years since the original PixelJunk Monsters debuted on PlayStation 3 in 2007 and its own 25th anniversary as a studio, but has not said when the demo will end or when the full game is out.

Can you play it in English?

Yes, fully. Q-Games’ official PixelJunk Monsters 3 page lists English alongside Japanese, plus French, Spanish (European and Latin American), German, Italian, Arabic, Portuguese (Brazilian), Polish, Russian, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional). The game is Steam-only, with online and local co-op for up to two players. A Western release date has not been announced; the Steam wishlist page is the only public listing so far.

The PixelJunk Monsters 3 demo lands on the same Steam Next Fest wave as Never Be Alone and the Surfpunk demo refresh, with Super Gaohaku also live for its November 4 release. Q-Games’ wider 2026 slate is unusually crowded: the studio co-developed Cloudly for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, which debuted at No. 1 in Japan the same week Ace Combat 8 hit one million sales, and it publishes Beyond the Dark: Nightwatch on Switch 2 on October 22, with Yodelee Golf also on the books. Steam Next Fest is the softest of those launches (no date, no price, wishlist-only), and PixelJunk Monsters 3 is the only one of the four with no announced release window.

For example, the original PixelJunk Monsters debuted on PlayStation 3 in 2007, per Q-Games, with the series later expanding to PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, and PC and selling over a million copies across those platforms.
