Final Fantasy 14 players chasing the Regalia Type-G mount from the ongoing Final Fantasy 15 crossover event have less time than they expected. Square Enix confirmed on the official Lodestone that all worlds will go into 24-hour maintenance starting Monday, October 12, 2026 at 6:00 AM ET, concluding on October 13. The FF15 crossover ends its current run on Tuesday, October 13, at 10:59 AM ET, which means players will have just a few hours after maintenance wraps to claim any outstanding rewards.

The Lodestone is the official news site for FFXIV, run by Square Enix. The Regalia Type-G is the headline reward from the crossover, a four-player seating mount that costs 200,000 MGP from the Manderville Gold Saucer. MGP is the in-game currency earned at the Gold Saucer, the game’s casino district, through activities like the Fashion Report. Since multi-seat mounts in FFXIV are usually sold through the Online Store for real money, the Regalia Type-G is an exception because of its limited window. The crossover also offers Noctis’ Lucian Prince attire and the Lucian Locks hairstyle. Square Enix has run the FF15 crossover multiple times over the years, but its rarity means players who miss it now may wait years for another chance.

The reason for the 24-hour downtime is the rollout of the same-region player matching feature, which Square Enix first announced during the Anaheim FanFest in April. The feature lets players on the same region’s data centers use Party Finder and Duty Finder without traveling to more populated servers. It goes live in Japan on October 13, covering the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor data centers. North America and Europe are planned before the Evercold expansion launches in January 2027. The same maintenance also covers the Lodestone site itself and the Companion App.

FFXIV is currently in a “calm before the storm” stretch as players wait for Evercold, which arrives after Dawntrail. Patch 7.56, which launched on September 8, added some main story quests bridging Dawntrail and Evercold, and introduced the Beastmaster as the second Limited Job, an axe-wielding melee DPS that fights alongside bestial familiars. The Tokyo FanFest keynote is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026 at 10:00 PM ET, and is expected to reveal Evercold’s second new job and a precise release date for the expansion.

Key dates and times (all ET):
– Maintenance start: October 12, 6:00 AM
– Maintenance end: October 13, 6:00 AM
– FF15 crossover end: October 13, 10:59 AM
– Practical window for crossover rewards: ~5 hours after maintenance concludes
– Tokyo FanFest keynote: October 30, 10:00 PM
– Evercold expansion: January 2027 (exact date TBA)

What this means for players: If you want the Regalia Type-G, the Lucian Prince outfit, or the Lucian Locks hairstyle, the practical window is Tuesday, October 13 from roughly 6:00 AM ET to 10:59 AM ET, about five hours after maintenance concludes. After that, the rewards are gone until Square Enix runs the crossover again. The maintenance itself is a one-time cost: the same-region matching feature is meant to make party-finding easier on less populated worlds, a long-requested quality-of-life change that has been a top community request since the data center split.

Our analysis: A 24-hour maintenance the same week a limited crossover ends is the worst kind of timing for completionists, but the bigger story is the matching feature itself. Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor players have been asking for cross-data-center party finder for years, and this is the first regional rollout. If Japan goes smoothly, North America and Europe should follow before Evercold, which is when it will matter most for the expansion’s launch queues. The maintenance window also lands the same week as Planet Zoo 2’s launch on October 13, so MMO players looking for something to do during the downtime have a fresh management sim to dive into. Our October 2026 release list and release calendar have the full picture of what’s launching that week.

Our read: The Regalia mount is the headline for most players, but the same-region matching rollout is the structural change that will outlast this maintenance window. Square Enix is using the downtime to test the feature on one region before expanding, which is the right way to ship a quality-of-life change ahead of a major expansion. For most players, the practical impact this week is simple: if you want the mount, log in by 10:59 AM ET on October 13. Everything else is the same-region matching feature, which is a real improvement but not one that changes what you do during the 24-hour downtime.
