Supernatural urban RPG NTE: Neverness to Everness gets the second half of Version 1.4 on October 21, 2026, developer Hotta World and publisher Perfect World confirmed today via Games Press. The update lands on PC, Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, Steam, Epic and Mac with full cross-platform support, and it lines up with NTE’s half-year anniversary.

Akane Rin joins the roster. Headlining the patch is playable character Akane Rin, a part-time guitarist at Livehouse StarSign whose past as an Anomaly Hunter (NTE’s player faction, investigators who deal with supernatural threats) is waiting to be uncovered. She ships with three outfits, including the ‘House Special’ outfit, and her guitar can be played anywhere in the open world of Hethereau, NTE’s coastal supernatural city.

A school festival and a Haruhi deep cut. The update adds a new school festival storyline featuring in-universe band The Whoots and a special performance of ‘God knows…’, the iconic 2006 song from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (originally performed by Aya Hirano for the anime). The collaboration is the patch’s emotional hook for Japanese players who watched the original broadcast.

Anniversary gifts for everyone. Players who log in during the second half receive 2 million Fons and Akane Rin’s ‘House Special’ outfit as half-year anniversary rewards. The first half of 1.4, which went live September 30, added the second Porsche collaboration, the Pukaland theme park, playable character Blackbird, and new permanent Anomaly Commissions like the Ghost Bus and a world of suddenly enormous everyday objects.

Our read

NTE launched on July 7, 2026, so a half-year anniversary in mid-October is a tight but reachable milestone. Picking a Haruhi Suzumiya deep cut for a collab performance is a deliberate Japan-first play, and the fact that the patch is a free update with a full crossover story tells you Hotta and Perfect World are still in the ‘hook players with content cadence’ phase rather than the ‘monetize hard’ phase. The first-half 1.4 Porsche tie-in and the Pukaland park were the bigger commercial asks of the version; Akane Rin is the free reason to come back.

The seven-platform simultaneous release with no platform-exclusive window also means the studio is prioritizing a single global patch over regional launch handoffs, which makes sense for a free content update. Live-service games we track have been moving in the same direction: Helldivers 2’s October 20 Scope of Authority Warbond (guide: Every Weapon, Armor, and the New Stationary Shroud Passive) shipped globally with no console lockout, DayZ’s Badlands expansion was a same-day multi-platform drop, and Caves of Qud: Diaspora chose Steam Next Fest as its global marketing moment. NTE’s pattern fits the broader free-update global-first approach.

For Western players, the news is that the patch arrives on all the same platforms the game already runs on, with no platform-exclusive window and no new paid DLC. The only paid friction is whatever the anniversary gacha pulls out of your Fons stash.
