Don’t expect Nintendo to announce Grand Theft Auto VI for Switch 2. Asked by Variety whether Rockstar’s game could come to the console, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard passed the question along.

“That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” she said.

GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which makes Switch 2 the only current console without it. That gap stands out more because Switch 2 has picked up big third-party games this year, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and GTA 6 is shipping on the weaker Xbox Series S.

Rockstar’s history on Nintendo hardware is thin but real. Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition are all on Switch. GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 never made the jump, and Rockstar hasn’t said anything about either one.

Pritchard’s answer isn’t a no, and it’s the same non-answer platform holders give about every third-party game. Our read: a Switch 2 port, if one ever happens, is far more likely years from now than at launch.

Nintendo isn’t sitting out the month, either. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake lands on November 5, two weeks before Rockstar’s launch. If you’re getting GTA 6 on another console, our launch prep guide covers storage and pre-orders.
