Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] debuted at the top of Famitsu’s Japanese physical software chart for the week of October 5-11, 2026, with 23,411 Switch 2 copies and 6,261 PS5 copies for 29,672 first-week sales, the trade publication confirmed this week. Switch 2 hardware led the week with 22,420 units sold, ahead of the PS5 Digital Edition’s 11,611.
The headline numbers are a strong opening for a Kingdom Hearts compilation in Japan. Square Enix’s decision to lead with Switch 2 as the primary platform looks vindicated by the platform split: 79% of the collection’s first-week sales in Japan went to Switch 2, with 21% to PS5.

Our read
Six of the top ten software slots are Switch 2, and the platform is the lifetime hardware leader in Japan at 6,408,973 units. The pattern matches our prior coverage: the Famitsu review of Final Fantasy Resonance tracked the same Nintendo-led JRPG sales story, and Roco Kingdom’s Japanese launch is another Switch-2-skewed release. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen’s #4 Switch 2 / #8 PS5 split (7,314 vs 5,099) reinforces the same pattern: Capcom’s Western JRPG-leaning expansions still skew Switch 2 in Japan.
Ace Combat 8‘s third-week hold at #3 with 13,801 PS5 copies is a steady PS5-only run, and our Ace Combat 8 beginner’s guide has been pulling the readers still buying in. Splatoon Raiders at #9 with 5,043 weekly / 681,648 lifetime is the long-tail performer of the chart, still outselling Splatoon 3’s 1,253 on the original Switch. Tomodachi Collection: Living the Dream at #10 is the reminder that the original Switch still moves software: 1,628,085 lifetime and 4,663 this week, the kind of sticky evergreen Nintendo’s first-party catalog has been delivering since the Wii era.
