Azur Promilia, the free-to-play fantasy creature-companion RPG from Manjuu Games, has crossed 20 million global pre-registrations and will hold its first English-language open beta in summer 2027, the studio announced today via Games Press.
Manjuu Games is the Shanghai-based developer best known for the mobile gacha hit Azur Lane, a free-to-play naval shooter that built a large English-speaking player base. Azur Promilia is the studio’s creature-companion fantasy RPG, in development for PS5, PC, iOS, and Android. Pre-registration is the free signup form Manjuu uses to count interest before launch. Registrants receive in-game items once the game is live.
The English-version Open Beta Test (OBT) is a free-to-play open beta on a dedicated U.S.-based server, marking the first time the game will be playable in English. Kibo are the in-game creatures players bond with in Azur Promilia. They fight alongside the player in combat and assist with farming, crafting, and material gathering in the home base. The studio is targeting PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android as launch platforms.
Manjuu used the milestone to launch the studio’s official English X account, along with a first English promo video titled “Kibo Safari” and a community giveaway whose top prize is a pair of Apple AirPods Max 2. Entries run through the official Manjuu X account.
What the 20 million number means: the pre-registration count is a single global number, not split by region. It covers every region where the game is already marketed: China, Japan, Taiwan and other Asian regions. The 20 million mark is the line Manjuu chose to celebrate publicly. The milestone is less the number itself than what it lets Manjuu do: hand out AirPods Max 2 to drum up western attention, and lock a summer 2027 OBT date on a U.S. server for English speakers.
Why a U.S. server matters: Manjuu’s previous Western-facing hit, Azur Lane, built its English player base almost entirely through Asian-region accounts. English versions came later, layered on top. Azur Promilia inverts that order. The first English playable build is on a U.S.-based server, so English speakers do not need to register an Asian PlayStation Network, iOS, or Google account. The studio can run the beta with English-only support staff. It is the same playbook other Asia-based studios have used to crack Western charts: a clean regional launch on day one rather than a late localization patch.
Our read: the Kibo Safari trailer is the first piece of official English-language marketing the studio has shipped, and a U.S.-hosted server means English players will not have to rely on Asian-region accounts or VPN workarounds during the beta. Manjuu has not announced a final release date beyond the open beta window.
What to watch next: the OBT is the first real test of whether English servers can hold a Western audience for a Manjuu creature game. It will also show whether the Kibo companion system reads as a headline feature or a side mechanic. The Apple AirPods Max 2 giveaway is a low-cost signal of intent. The actual product test is whether Manjuu ships a fully English-localized build with English text and voice in the beta, or whether the English OBT ships English-subtitled only.
The bigger pattern: Asia-based studios are flooding the Western free-to-play market in 2026. Two recent examples that crossed our desk are the REPLACED Android launch on Google Play Games (REPLACED Comes to Android December 8) and Sifu’s iOS/Android port with custom touch controls (Sifu Launches on iOS and Android). The Azur Promilia open beta lands in the same summer 2027 window as the SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide Switch port and slots in alongside Western free-to-play benchmarks like Zenless Zone Zero (Zenless Zone Zero 3.3 Adds Phoenix) and Rainbow Six Mobile (Rainbow Six Mobile Is Shutting Down). The giveaway prize alone, a pair of high-end Apple headphones, signals Manjuu is willing to spend to build a Western wishlist, not just rely on existing Asia-side interest.
Manjuu’s case, by the numbers:
- 20,000,000 pre-registrations, single global figure
- 1 first English-language build, on a dedicated U.S. server
- 1 Kibo Safari promo video (English, world premiere)
- 1 Apple AirPods Max 2 giveaway top prize (worth roughly $549)
- 4 confirmed platforms: PS5, PC, iOS, Android
- Summer 2027 English OBT window, no exact date yet
