Hytale is Hypixel Studios’ blocky sandbox RPG, and its top Founder’s Edition is now a multi-game gift. Anyone who picks up the Cursebreaker Edition gets one free standard copy of Hytale to hand to a friend for every early-access chapter that ships before the game hits 1.0, founder Simon Collins-Laflamme announced on X this morning. If the studio ships six chapters on the way to launch, that’s six free copies.
The first one lands on Monday, October 12, when Hytale Chapter 1 goes live. The Cursebreaker tier is priced at $83.99, against $24.99 for the standard edition and $41.99 for the Supporter bundle. Existing players who upgrade an account to the Cursebreaker tier during Chapter 1 also qualify, per Collins-Laflamme.
The pitch is unusually generous for an early-access sandbox RPG that launched less than a year ago. When asked how he can afford it, Collins-Laflamme told one X user, “I do what I do, it is what it is,” and replied to a separate concern with “Community first.” Hypixel had already secured roughly two years of development funding from pre-orders ahead of Chapter 1, PCGamesN reports.
Collins-Laflamme has also been upfront that the game isn’t finished: he previously told backers to “buy the game but wait to play”, and called the early-access period a “cooking” phase. Chapter 1 itself is the first big content drop since Hytale entered early access on January 13, 2026. It adds a goblin faction with a dungeon and raid boss, plus new traversal gear like rocket boots, gliders, and hookshots. Combat runes, an overhaul to player models, and a carry mechanic round out the patch, per PCGamesN’s preview. The team, which now sits at over 100 people, is targeting “hundreds of runes and items” across the next set of updates.
Chapter 1 is free for every existing early-access owner, and it’s on our October 2026 release list. The Cursebreaker free-copy offer is the part worth pointing a friend at: it’s effectively a way for the most invested founders to spread the game around at no extra cost, on Hypixel’s dime, as long as the chapters keep shipping. The math gets interesting fast if Hypixel sticks to its stated plan of multiple chapters before 1.0.
