M2, a Japanese developer best known for its high-fidelity arcade ports, used its M2 Shot Triggers 10th Anniversary Festival in Tokyo on October 10, 2026, to confirm two home console ports: a PS4 version of indie hit DEVIL BLADE REBOOT and a Switch collection of two 1990s Data East arcade games. Neither title has a release date, price, or full platform list yet.

The headliner is the home port of DEVIL BLADE REBOOT, a vertical-scrolling shooter that originally launched on Steam on May 23, 2024, where it carries an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating. Shigatake is a graphic designer at Vanillaware (the Osaka studio behind 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Unicorn Overlord) and DEVIL BLADE is his solo project. The working title for the console release is DEVIL BLADE REBOOT Consumer Edition. M2 showed a PS4 build running live at the event and released a teaser PV, but said porting is taking longer than expected. The team is using M2’s in-house StgBuilder engine for a console release for the first time, and they have no past projects to lean on for sound, rendering, or save data. In a developer comment, Shigatake said home console versions have been requested since the Steam launch and that he has been asking M2 to port the game since day one.

The second announcement is THE EDWARD RAGTIMESHOW DATA EAST COLLECTION for Nintendo Switch, bundling the 1991 side-scroller Edward Randy and the 1992 horizontal shooter The Great Ragtime Show. Data East was a Japanese arcade game developer (founded 1976, defunct 2003) whose catalog is now licensed to M2 and a few other retro publishers. Both titles are already available in the West as part of M2’s Egret II Mini Arcade Collection Part 1 (December 2025), but the Switch collection will be a standalone release. It will include M2’s signature M2 Gadget, the in-game information overlay the company has been building for its M2 Shot Triggers line of faithful arcade ports. This is the same feature that makes M2’s Cave STG ports the reference release for Western shoot-em-up fans. M2 president Naoki Horii told viewers “you’ll be able to play it at home eventually,” without giving a date or pricing. Other platform plans were not disclosed.

Can you play it in English?

Yes. The Steam version of DEVIL BLADE REBOOT already ships with English, and M2’s past console ports have all supported English. The Egret II Mini version of Edward Randy and The Great Ragtime Show is also in English, so the Switch collection is expected to follow the same pattern. Neither game has a confirmed Western release date. Both entries are tracked on our Coming West? page, and any release-date or pricing news will land on the Pixel Herald release calendar.

Our read

DEVIL BLADE REBOOT is the bigger story for Western players: the Steam version has been a sleeper hit with STG fans since 2024, and a console release gives M2’s emulation reputation a fresh hook beyond its usual retro ports. M2 said the port is being built around Shigatake’s existing PC code on StgBuilder, so the delay is mostly technical, and there is no reason to expect the console version to drop features versus Steam. The Data East collection, by contrast, is mostly a convenience release for players who already own Egret II Mini, and the M2 Gadget is the only meaningful upgrade. Western buyers who own the Egret II Mini Collection Part 1 should wait for a hands-on before double-dipping.
